Licorice Allsorts, 14 oz.

I love licorice allsorts, but a good producer is difficult to find. This British manufacturer's product did not deliver what I expected. The pieces were dry, powdery, and tasteless. I believed that these allsorts would be great because the Basset Co. produced the first ones in Sheffield, England. I need to continue my hunt for great mail-order allsorts.

Below is my original review for Taveners allsorts which I loved. I reordered, and now the seller is Miles Kimball and although they picture the Taveners box and says it's Taveners, they send Gustaf's NOT Taveners. Both are made in England, Taveners is also packaged in England and in a bag inside a box, while Gustaf's is packaged in the USA and in just a bag. Not as soft, didn't feel they were as flavorful, and was upset at the switch and bait. I emailed the seller to complain about the switch, they offered a refund.******Flavorful, made in England from all natural ingredients (ie, pink color from beet juice), just like my mom remembers from her childhood. Personally, I'm not a fan of coconut, and there's a coconut one in there, which was very coconutty. Like I said, flavorful. I've had hard, stale, sorta tasteless licorice before, but these are the best licorice allsorts I've ever had. For plain black licorice I always pick Panda brand licorice (made in Finland), but when me or anyone in my family wants English licorice allsorts, this is the brand I go to. I've ordered this twice from Amazon, and both times it was fresh and flavorful. There's not a huge amount in the box, so if you're a huge fan, considering S&H, you may want to consider ordering more than one box. The pictures on the box realistically show the allsorts you get. The next time I get a hankering, I will be buying this brand again.

I have to put an amount of these in a container or dish when I sit down to read or watch t.v. or reaching for more suddenly realizing the whole bag is gone.

We bought this as a gift for our mom who loves these. We were rather surprised to get very differnt packaging and apparently manufacturer. After reading the label that they were in fact made in the UK and were soft like she wants we decided to see what she thought. She said they tasted just like the ones pictured that she had before so in the end all was good. Just don't be surprised if the licorice received looks different than the picture.

When the item was delivered the bag of candy was torn.

Taste as good as I expected.

The picture is of Tavener's Allsorts...and what got sent is in a bag and is a different brand...but they look like they are an equivalent...
