The most useful advice ever given, "Don't panic," can be found within the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy . The day aliens decide to demolish the Earth to make way for a hyperspace bypass is the day when Arthur Dent realizes the futility of such advice. The story begins when Arthur, not really your average man-in-the-street, finds that his planet is suddenly destroyed around him, and the great hitch-hike begins. Starring Peter Jones as The Book, Simon Jones as Arthur Dent and Geoffrey McGivern as Ford Prefect, this is the first Douglas Adams' legendary radio series. Also included on this Special Edition is Douglas Adams's Guide to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy , first broadcast in 1999, which looks at the genesis and phenomenal success of the series. Review: As described.. Love it - Item was as described. Arrived as promised Review: Story great, acting great, audio terrible - The radio program is fantastic but the balance of the audio is terrible. The music is loud, the sound effects are loud, the dialogue is quiet and muffled. You have to put the volume up high to hear the words (especially the narrator). And then the sound effects and music kicks in and hurt your ears. Such a shame. I've definitely heard other remasterings that have better audio balance.

The best
The best form of hitchhikers guide. Stereo effects are a brilliant part of the production, and Peter Jones as the book is fantastic

Still A Mono Recording Copy
Like the HGTTG Boxset this Primary Phase (please check for the mono issues in those reviews) is a mono recording although it is listed as stereo. Meaning that since this issues release is the most recent version (and is the basis for the digital versions) the Primary and Secondary remasters have only been officially available in mono for years. I double checked the lack of stereo by pulling the .wav file in to Audacity and both the left and right channel are exactly the same. Meaning the stereo mix has been crunched into both channels so that there is no panning of the sound effects to either side. Disappointing. This edition even states in its liner notes the importance of it being a stereo recording for the BBC. Until then if you are interested in this series I would avoid any releases labelled as a remaster to avoid the mono issue.
