lightweight and durable
flexes a little more as it ages, but I've been using mine for 3 years, and my wife for 5 months. both still holding up well. mounting nut came off mine a couple months ago. No big deal. Highly recommended.Works well, especially if you need to slip your street shoes in and out often for commuting. took my wife some getting used to, but easy to do. You can always pedal them upside down in a pinch if you can't get your foot in right away. I can slip my feet in without even looking down if I wear the right shoes. Feet stick a little bit with running shoes or shoes with aggressive tread, which makes getting in harder but not so much pulling your foot out. Scuffs your shoes up a little bit over time, so not so good for shiny leather dress shoes.

Good Option for those not wanting to clip in
This works well. Get benefits of attachment to the pedals while being able to get in/out of easily. I got these to replace very old toe clips with straps. It is a looser than having the strap tight, but more convenient and still very functional. A good option for those not wanting to clip in.

Great buy, make sure to add your own metal washers
Ive used these for years across many bikes both for touring and my daily commutes and they are fantastic. I love to not be able to have to wear separate shoes for cycling but can still pull up on on the pedals with my feel. For city commuting the probably best thing about these is that you can pull up your pedal while waiting at a red light so you can easily push down to get started again. They hold up very well, in my 5 years and multiple pairs across bikes I have never had one break on the top or where your foot goes, and have only had one break where it comes to the pedal with a screw, that is why I know use small metal washers in addition to the screw and havent had a problem since. The package does come with a square metal bracket which I think serves the purpose of a washer which you can use, but a small metal washer does the trick alot better. Even without the washer it works great and I would highly recommend this.

Great for commuting, and urban cycling.
I started biking again 2 months ago. When I bought my Trek bike it came with a set of Crank Bros Eggbeaters, which I didn't find practical for NYC urban riding. The first thing is that you have to make sure you have platform pedals with the proper screw holes which will allow you to install these clips. I bought a pair of MKS Sylvan Touring Pedals from Amazon.com and I'm very satisfied. As soon as I put my feet inside the clips I could feel a difference. Yes, it does help you a lot when you pedaling. My pattern is now more uniform, and I'm inputting energy whether I'm pushing the pedal down or pulling up. It's very easy to take my feet out of them too, which is very importing if you bike in a area like NYC. It took me less than a few minutes to learn how to insert my feet in the clips and although this was my first ride with them I can do it without even looking down most times. Also, I keep my right foot in when I have to stop and only take my left foot out, when it's time to start pedaling again I then insert my left foot. The good things is that if you have two-sided platform pedals when can pedal on the opposite side of the pedal just to get you going, and once you're moving again then you can proceed to insert your foot, so yes, very easy to use, and they do give you more speed. If you do pedal on the the side opposite to the clips, do not do it on a curve, as you will scratch them against the pavement. On this ride I was wearing sneakers, but I also put on my dressy shows size 10 (USA) while I was at home and didn't have any problem doing any of the things that I mentioned above. In regards to the quality. The pedals are plastic, I just got them but they feel pretty sturdy to me, so I don't think they're easily breakable, and they're also very cheap. One last thing. I wouldn't say that these are beginner clips. I know that some people that have expensive road bikes and wear spandex might think these clips are garbage, but they're for a different purpose. A lot of us are not interested in getting clipless pedals and clips with straps because we're practical riders.I also have a review on the MKS Sylvan Touring Pedal Double Sided.

They get the job done, once you buy your own washers. See the photos accompanying my review.
I'd give them 3.5 stars, if that were an option. They're certainly a good value, assuming they hold up. But there were a couple of issues. See photos attached for clarification. The "instructions" are amusing, alerting you to the fact that "Strapless Toe Clips do not include straps." Aside from that helpful tidbit, they consist solely of a digram showing the orientation of the toe clip, screws, and nuts, relative to the pedal. Along with 4 screws and 4 nuts (with with lock washers attached), the toe clips arrived with two metal rectangular plates with slotted holes that line up with the holes in the clips and those on the bike pedals. They aren't pictured in the mounting diagram, and there's no mention of what to do with them. Since the toe clips are just plastic, and the holes for the screws are slotted, and the screw heads aren't much wider than the holes, it would make sense to use each metal plate on the outside of each toe clip, so that the plastic toe clips would be sandwiched between the metal plates and the peddles. Unfortunately, the plates don't fit in that location, as they are wider than the space allowed. That's a shame, because when I hand tightened the screws, without the metal plate, the plastic easily deformed, and I doubt the toe clips would have gone long before breaking. Since my wife ordered them for her first triathlon, this didn't seem like a chance worth taking. So I took them off, then reinstalled them with some washers between the screw heads and the plastic clips. Now they seem sturdy enough to last a while. Overall, especially for the price, I'd recommend them, but if you don't have a bunch of washers waiting in your garage for just such an occasion, plan on a trip to the hardware store. Also note that if you have reflectors installed on both sides of your pedals, you're going to have to remove the ones on the side that you install the toe clips.
