If Chuck Norris needed a case, he'd pick this one.
This case was an easy choice for my most expensive rifle build. I recently assembled an AR dedicated to my hobby of long range precision shooting, and after tallying up the final build total I realized that I needed something very rugged to protect my investment. I was initially looking into a Pelican Case, but I didn't feel that the added cost of the pelican gave me any extra advantages over the Field Locker. This thing is incredibly well built, and should last me a very long time if not indefinitely. The latches are incredibly powerful, snapping on and off with authority. The latch mechanisms and handles are very well padded with a soft grey rubber overmold that gives a nice contrast to the dark black polymer. The lid of the case swings completely open and lays flat, something comparable cases from other manufacturers do not offer. And the reinforced locking points are a welcome addition that give extra piece of mind if more security is needed. The foam is very dense, yet has the right quality feel to give the protection you'd expect. There is a very large rubber seal that is set into The lid of the case that protects against moisture and dust when the latches are fully closed. The luggage wheels on the bottom of the case move very smoothly and appear to be of similar quality to rollerblades. The interior has a 3 layer design. The top is an eggshell arrangement that is fairly deep adding the first outer layer of protection. The next center layer is the solid 2" thick layer that you will cut to shape for your items. There is an additional bottom layer of 2" foam below the center layer that gives the last cushion of the case.If I had to nitpick about some very, very minor flaws I would point out one of two small observations.1.) The case isn't as highly refined as the top tier cases that cost significantly more. There are some molding marks, and small cosmetic imperfections on the outer shell. Is that a deal breaker? Absolutely not! This case is meant to be used and take the abuse, it's a case that's meant to protect what's on the inside.2.) The center layers of foam are somewhat unidirectional. They have specific areas that are pre cut that allow clearance for the wheels, and reinforced pillars in the front. This was an issue I overlooked when I cut the foam for my rifle and when I tried to flip it to hide the marks. The foam will work when flipped, but it does get slightly compressed and distorted by the pillars when they are not in the pre cut recesses. My fault for not taking the time to notice and lay out the contents accordingly (out of my excitement.) So i just oriented it back to the original location and left the marks face up.Overall I'm extremely pleased with this case, and I will definitely be adding more to my inventory. All you need now is an electric serrated carving knife to cut your foam! (I also purchased one through Amazon specifically for this project. Definitely a much nicer finished product if you take the time.)

Quality at a low price
I ordered 2 of this case for my roof rack storage. I have filled one of them with my recovery gear and the other with normal tools/extras that I need access to, but do not want to have inside the vehicle. The fit is perfect on my roof rack and the internal space is the maximum I could find for a case this thin. I was looking for something low-profile when laid down so I could still fit into a garage and into parking garages. These cases are great. The 4 point brackets and locking ability is great for security and the seal has worked against the weather. No issues with water or external deterioration. I ran them all summer, and now into winter I go.I drive quite a bit and they have not developed any leaks or issues where the wind/rain/elements come in contact. Great option if you don't need to have the top-of-the-line super expensive name-brand cases. They see plenty of use, multiple times per week and even more on the weekends as my easy access tools are locked within. Great cases, no problems and I expect they will last a good long time.

Tank of a case
I feel like i could drop this thing off a cliff and when it drops, you would have to check if the floor was ok. The material seems very high quality, can drag it on the floor and wont even get scuffed up. It has very sturdy and crisp levers that lock into place. The best part is the foam. it comes with two layers of foam. The top layer that you can cut and shape into whatever youre putting inside, and the lower foam that youre gear will rest on. High quality foam too, not flimsy and wont rip on you too easily but soft enough to not scratch sensitive gear. Also for anybody using it for a compound bow, my target bow is around 45 inches total length and this case fits it perfectly with enough space for all my stabilizers and sights and arrows ! 10/10 buying again for my hunting bow.

Good product, poor packaging.
My main complaint is that the case was shipped in a simple standard weight corrugated cardboard box with no packing material whatsoever to protect it. The box arrived with substantial crushing and a large tear on one end with the taped end flap closure essentially ripped open. I rated the product with 5 stars, but the packaging left much to be desired. Some molded styrofoam end pieces in the box would have helped immensely. As a credit to the case, it remained unscathed even though the box was damaged. There was only a simple one-page instruction sheet with minimal information on customizing the foam interior and the instructions regarding the pressure relief valve seemed to be generic, as the location of the valve, its design, and use, as described did not seem to apply to this model case. Minor issues, but for the price I would think something more comprehensive and appropriate could have been included. The case appears to be well-made and sturdy and will undoubtedly withstand whatever mild abuse I might inflict upon it. It is BIG and it is HEAVY, but has good handles and wheels.

Worth the money and the weight
I bought this to transport an expensive rifle and scope in a U-Haul trailer that was going to be packed with 12 other's gear for a hog hunting trip to Texas. The case stood up having 12 other rifle cases stacked on top of it and it protected my rifle when it was bounced out of the bed of a Polaris 4x4 buggy.I can confirm it's water proof! I'd packed up my rifle for the return trip and left it on the porch. A unexpected storm broke at 3 am, of course my case was under the only leak. After the down pour I checked and the inside was nice and dry. You will get a workout lifting this case into the back of a pickup or buggy; loaded mine tipped the scale at 53 pounds. I'm very happy that I spent the money and I will be ordering additional middle inserts to use this case with other rifles.

Great case but you have to cut that foam!
Excellent case, very robust, very heavy, even more so when filled with your rifle and accessories. For those of you that don’t know...... the best way without any doubt to cut the foam is to firstly use masking tape to cover the entire area as you do not want to be left with horrible marker pen lines after you have finished, place your weapons or what ever you are protecting in the exact positions you want them to be in when it’s finished. If like me you are protecting a scoped rifle have the scope towards the handle where it’s most protected, use an electric bread knife! £10 I got mine for, it does not have to be the most expensive! Make an incision just inside your outline with a normal sharp knife then swap over to the electric bread knife and away you go! If you can cut it reasonably at 90 degrees to the foam so in other words hold it square as you cut and you cut just inside your outline (my outline was left completely visable after I had finished) your item will fit absolutely snug inside the case and it will look like it has come from the factory specifically for your item. It took me from start to finish around 15 minutes.

Pretty much everything I've come to expect from a Plano ...
Pretty much everything I've come to expect from a Plano brand case. It's quite solid and this one is (At least of this writing) the one with the largest internal capacity of any of their offerings as far as I could find on their website. It's just big enough to properly fit my .338 Lapua though it's still on the rather snug size as far as length is concerned.Cheaper than a Pelican and personally I find them just as good.

Poor condition
Box arrived and it was obvious it had been opened previously. Scuff marks on the case - not impressed. Apart from getting something that should have come from a scratch and dent bin the case is fine. Latches are nice and tight.
