I was skeptical but *NEEDED* a charger / holder for a roadtrip... and this fricking delivered.
Alright friends, first off let me tell you that I've had the worst luck with phone mounts in the past. I'm sick of suction cups that can't hold up in the swampy DC summers, magnetic mounts with metal plates that ruin a cute phone case and yet STILL fail at their job when I hit a bump in the road, and vent attachment holders that droop / bend / pop off the vent mid drive! I've only had this mount for a couple weeks but holy heck I'm already impressed. The vent clip is probably my favourite thing because it has this lovely little tooth so it clips not just on, but totally around the vent slat. Such a simple little modification on the typical clip, but it has completely solved the whole mount shifting and sliding off the vent problem! The actual phone holder aspect is sturdy with an adjustable ball and socket aspect so you can set the angle that you want and tighten it up so that sucker stays in place. It took a bit of fiddling to get it all just right, but like a three minute (tops) set up isn't that big a deal in the long run. I was super skeptical about the whole automatic clamping & release feature... sure it seems cool, but would it mistake my reaching to change Spotify playlists at a stoplight for reaching to disconnect my phone?? NOPE! At least in my use thus far, the sensor only seems to activate and release my phone like a half second after my fingers are on both sides of the phone base. So just holding one side of the phone while I use my thumb to change music or check GPS directions doesn't cause a mid-drive debacle. The charger isn't as fast as some direct cables... but it'll get my phone from about a ~50% charge up to at least ~80% (despite using GPS, bluetooth, and running map & music apps) over a ~30min drive. So that's pretty solid considering my in home wireless charger isn't always that hardy. I haven't tried the suction cup arm yet (mainly because I first grabbed the vent mount out of the box and loved the resulting set up), but I will give it a go in another few weeks and update this review with those thoughts - and how this product continues to hold up under some heavy roadtripping. TL;DR: Yes it's a bit pricey, but after spending about $10-$20 each on various phone mounts that break after a few months, it's lovely to have one that feels like it can actually hang around for the long haul.

Good sturdy holder, charging is an added bonus
I am very pleased with this cell phone mount. I like to listen to podcasts when driving and sometimes use navigation so I needed to get a much more reliable mount. I use the vent clip (not the suction) and I find it holds my iphone firmly. Most importantly, it doesn't shift even when on a bumpy road. My old one was always dropping out of position, sliding around and even popping off which was SO frustrating! This is much better quality...it holds my iphone firmly it hasn't yet failed - despite NJ potholes and ongoing construction! It has the ability to adjust to many convenient positions so you can have just the perfect angle and doesn't slide its position. That was my primary concern with this purchase but it has some fun added features. The grabbing feature is a convenient function because on those occasions when you suddenly need access to your phone you can pop the phone into the holder conveniently, quickly, safely and one-handed. No more fiddling with the clamps! The charging feature allowing you to get longer use of the phone without draining the battery. However, I drive an older car and it only has the USB cord and not the cigarette lighter attachment. Overall it is good quality and I am happy with this purchase.

A great product with a few reservations
Used in a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, Samsung Galaxy S9 phone. Purchase this based on the reviews and one reviewer who said this is the only automatic wireless charging holder on the market that the jaws can be manually spread in case of a loss of power without damaging the jaw motor. I really like how well the jaws work and hold the phone. The jaws are fast so you have to be prepared to place your phone correctly on the charging pad. If not you can easily release and reposition the phone for a new hold. I only gave it 4 stars because the front sensor is reluctant to open the phone every time but the side button always works with the lightest of touches. Charging seems flawless. I used the suction arm setup for a few days but switched to the vent mount because even though the mount is very rigid and strong the phone would wiggle while driving because of bad roads and I canโt stand that, also could not angle the phone up enough to eliminate the reflection from the rear window, but that is my car. The large and sticky suction cup held flawlessly to my dash even though the vinyl dash has a slight stippled pattern. If you use Armor All or something similar on your dash you may need to clean that off. The suction cup did deform the dash slightly where it was mounted but that is because it holds so well. The vent mount is pretty solid if you can mount something under the lower portion of the holder to stabilize it. I happen to have a stick-on mount for a magnet holder (Scosche) I used with my old phone and it leans against that, you could also use a foam or rubber pad or one of those round rubber stick-on mounts for routing cable. It took some fiddling around to achieve a mounting angle I could live with but it is well worth the effort. All in all I think this is a pretty good product and would not want to be without it.

Great Mount Horrible Charger
First off I love the fact that this is essentially hands free. The wireless part of that how it opens up and so easy to take off is great. I THOUGHT it would be great so that I didnt have to mess with a charging cable anymore since I spend so much time going in and out of my car but I was wrong. I originally had a car adapter that charged my phone at about 1500 mah. I used the same cord and adapter to plug in the wireless charger however I could only hit around 700mah and most of the wireless charging was staying at only 300mah. This was not acceptable and not fast enough as my phone uses more energy than that just to have navigation open. I purchased a new car adapter that was QC3 compatible and now plugged in directly I was getting a consistant 1500-1900mah, which was great. I plugged it in to the wireless charger again to only find out I was maxing out around 900mah however most of the time it was sitting around 500mah. After spending 40 bucks on a wireless charger I was really hoping it would work better. On top of it, the thin silicone case I had BARELY wireless charges, its so thin and my home wireless charger has no problem with it. The only way I can actually wireless charge is if I take my phone case off. In the end I regret this purchase of having the motorized mount being more of a gimmick if I cant even charge at a full speed. Also one other thing to note is that my phone overheated multiple times now on the wireless charging. My phone was burning up and said that it could not charge anymore. This wireless charger DOES NOT actually charge fast and NOT worth the money! If youre looking for an expensive phone mount than this will do the job great, but if you want wireless charging I wouldnt expect much from this. I wish I could give this a better rating because build quality is great, however since the whole reason I purchased it was to wireless charge my phone and it isnt working correct I consider it a failed product. *EDIT 5/21/21* Charger motor completely broke and wont open on the left. Have to force it open to hold.

Almost Amazing, Suction cup melts
*10/20 update, 1 year after purchase *Added pics The suction cup has melted into an unacceptable mess. It's October in Virginia. We didn't even have a brutal summer, it's been unseasonably cool most of the year. The charger and holder itself work great. But it's now completely useless without a suction cup replacement. *Old review below... Almost the best car phone mount I have ever owned. Love the wireless charging and the sensor feature. Fits my phone well and holds it secure with ease. Wireless charging works through my case. Unfortunately, the suction cup is sub-par. The suction cup has started to stretch and tear away from the mounting component, causing the whole mount to be loose, device shaking and bouncing while driving. (Wish I could buy an improved replacement). And I don't have the telescoping arm fully extended, so leverage from the weight of my device is minimal. Someone that needs the full length will likely have more issues and sooner than my experience. I've owned this mount for less than a year, and it has not yet experienced our peak summer temps in Virginia. But the suction cup still fails with a car parked in the sun - the mount falls down. Which gets the suction cup dirty and unusable until I have time to rinse it with water and let it air dry.

Works Great Withiout a Case
UPDATE: When I did my initial review, this charger worked fine but since then, it will not charge any of our phones that have a case on them. If we remove the case, then it charges great. My other charger charges my phone with the case on. This is my second wireless charger I have purchased on Amazon. I was very happy with the first one but my wife found this one and asked me to order it for her because of the photocell. The one I have doesn't have that feature and it only closes automatically. It does not open automatically. This model does both open and close automatically. This is way cooler than my other one. the clamp on the back that attaches to the air vent super tight and it is held my wife's Samsung 8 just fine. I tested it with my Samsung note 8 which is larger and has an otter case on it. It worked fine and charge through the case and chargers her phone perfectly to. On my model, you have to push a button to release the phone. This one you just grab it out of the cradle. You prefer to use the suction cup mount method, I can tell you that it works very good. My wife wanted to use the vent instead of the suction mount. Overall very impressed with the functionality and charging time of this cradle. I definitely recommend this one and if I could go back in time I would have let her this one for myself too. Very glad she found it.

Fast charging, great suction, and quick warranty support
I ordered this charger mount about a year ago and have been using it with my Razer Phone 2 since then. It has been the fastest wireless charger we own (charging even faster than a 15W charger we have in the house), and the charging pad & clamping have not given us any problems during that time. Recently, about 11.5 months after our purchase, the part of the mount that attaches to the suction cup broke off, so I contacted the company for support. After getting photos to confirm how my mount had broken, they quickly sent me a new mounting arm. The new arm is a slightly different design, so I'm hopeful that it will last a bit longer. While waiting for the replacement, I did discover that the charging pad will mount on (at least some) other brands of car mounts -- I had it attached onto my Garmin beanbag friction mount and it worked great. Razer Phone 2 note: Since the charging coil on the Razer Phone 2 is so low, I had to improvise a system to keep the phone positioned correctly to charge reliably. I found that by moving the feet all the way up (which, since the legs for the feet are angled, doesn't leave the feet sticking out to support the phone anymore) I could wedge a small piece of plastic in there (I cut mine out of a sturdy old credit card) which gave the phone a little bit of a lip to stand on.

Charges and holds almost any phone snugly!
I have an LG G8 and my husband has an iPhone 10 XR. The charger mounts perfectly and adequately charges my phone even with my thin case attached. The motion sensor is cool. I tried one once before, but it wouldn't hold the charge. I drive for a living so it's really convenient, because I don't have to take my eyes off the road. I take less chances when I use it. The style is sleek enough to look right in any type of car. Any phone that's QI compatible, it'll work with. When my phone charges, I put my husband's phone in it. My favorite part is that I don't have to worry about which case I have on. It fits nice and snug, even with my larger case on. It's definitely my new favorite accessory.
