Novel pressure release mechanism, but a bit of a let down
I’ve built my own water rocket and purchased a separate model on amazon. Both of my prior experiences rely on a ‘plug’ where once enough pressure builds, the rocket launches. On a good day, those rockets may reach about 50ft.My kids are older and looking for something with more bang. This item was new and had a different mechanism to build up pressure and release it with claims of >100ft range. While a bit more than other rockets, I thought it would it would bring some quality time with my kids. The build quality is really good... except for the flimsy foam fins. I’m launching it without those fins.Launch mechanism does let one build pressures at just over 120psi (yeah!), but it needs to be manually released (the person launching will get wet!). Not a big deal in warm climates.Overall, I wish I could give this 5 stars, but the cheap fins (-1 star) and no ability to launch this remotely (-1 star) brings it back to 3 stars. Fins could be a quick fix by manufacturer. Launching mechanism would require additional hardware/device.Recommended ages: any if a parent is launching. Otherwise this is probably for 12+.

Great quality, can be used over and over
We ordered this to use with our girls to teach them the basics of how rickets work. This is a really great rocket kit. It comes simply packeged, in a resealable plastic bag. It has an instruction booklet with how to use it (mostly) but also contains some educational information to use with your kiddos. We followed the directions to set it up, but there was no step for putting water in the rocket (we just filled it about half way). We used a bike pump (about 2 full pumps was all we could do) and the rocket launched about 100 feet into the air. We launched it multiple times and it was a lot of fun.

Science-oriented toy at a good price
Pros: Easy to assemble, convenient connector doesn't require o-ring.Cons: Coloration (transparent plastic and black fins make an effective camouflage for inevitable foliage landings. If you lose the launch vehicle, you need another one (vs. other models that you can launch soda bottles with). However, this costs less.

You get wet
Works good but you get wet when launching it. Kids don't seem to mind.

Super fin for all ages.
This is so fun. I gave it to my grandson for his birthday and the whole family loves it. It is amazing how high it will go and it is safer than other rockets.

Simple Fun rocket
My children and I love this little rocket. We hooked up a portable air pump, set it to 50 pounds and launch the thing.

Does not work
Will not hold enough air to propel the rocket upward.
