All of which are variations on the idea of a solid windshield because, "that's the way it's always been done". We knew that solid windshields caused a vortex that sucked hot dusty air and exhaust from the outside into the cab. We also knew that these common windshields scratched easily no matter how many coatings are used to harden the surface. We knew that glare was a problem and that the coatings could distort your view. We knew that they were a dust magnet and people had to stop and clean them frequently. We decided to take a fresh approach and after much thought we decided to consider a screen material instead of a solid windshield. There are thousands of types of screen. From the screen on your windows, to screen to filter fluids, to screens used in medical applications and they are not all metal. They are made from many different materials. After exhaustive research we found a screen that met our requirements. It had to be strong, flexible and have great visibility among other things. We knew that a screen couldn't scratch. We wanted a strong screen that would provide a safer ride by protecting people from limbs, brush and debris coming in thru the windshield area and to provide limited airflow to break the vortex and make riding on a hot day better.
