Good price and product is a must for maintaining water softener.

After hearing and reading about this from Amazon reviews and YouTuber’s vids I am glad to have purchased the the 3-gallons deal. Price is realistic and results with our Kinetico system are excellent. We will make it our routine maintenance from here out on our older system(15-ish years or so?…) I read that some shipments can be damaged and I see that is the case pending on folks handling “your” stuff as it travels to your home. Luckily that the 1-gallon jugs do have the safety seal on them. One of ours arrived with a beat up broke cap. (see pics). The cardboard box it’s shipped in is very good and the seal on the mouth of the jug is good BUT a little packing or something to stabilize the jugs in the box needs to happen because from what I’ve read and now have experienced first hand the damaged cap(s) don’t seem to do well in shipping. Granted 3-gallons in one box is probably heavier than most packages that do get the hands on treatment but I would add a little more enroute thought when shipping these. Our seal on jug held so I am cool with that. But if it leaked you would be screwed. And it says you can’t return these. So here is an opportunity for someone to do something about that. Will anything change(?) With todays norms, probably not. But if I was the boss it would be dealt with when they are placed in the box. But that’s just me. Deal or no deal on 3 gallons at a shot, if just one arrived leaking or not shipped the whole way down the line to the user/customer (that’s us), I’m going with a different plan. Sorry to cry. Great delivery time! Since I can’t see into the actual softener tank I can only assume it is actually working due to water quality getting better. Easy to use.

ResCare is my go-to for maintaining a water softener, especially with iron issues. It helps keep the resin clean and performance consistent. The gallon jugs are convenient and the 3-pack lasts a long time. I run it as routine maintenance and it’s helped prevent staining and softener performance drop-off.

Just had a new Culligan Water Softener installed (replaced my 27 year old softener) and Culligan added a drip tank to instill their brand of Reactivator to be added to the brine tank water which also removes iron and magnesium from the resin beads in the ion exchange column (the brine tank salt removes the hard water minerals mostly calcium from lime stone). These gallon jug units were made by the same company (Pro Products) and it is a lot cheaper buying gallon refills from the manufacturer than the quart bottles from Culligan (which is also made by Pro Products). Pictures below show the drip tank in the salt storage bin. This drip tank adds the necessary iron and magnesium eliminator to the brine tank water and prevents fouling of the beads in the resin bed. A water softener without this only removes the calcium from the water and leaves the magnesium and iron to foul the beads and makes the unit less and less effective over time.
