Classic but dribbles
This teapot looks like a classic Brown Betty. It's got the lovely round shape, it seems to be of good ceramic, you can even see some of the unglazed terracotta on the underside rim where it sat during firing. My main complaint, though I do really want to enjoy this teapot and will continue to use it, is that the design of it causes it to dribble. The spout is very rounded, so that while you're pouring, a fair amount of liquid follows the neck of the spout and spill down onto your table top surface. Granted, the rounded neck LOOKS nice, but it doesn't make it that functional.I've tried pouring it faster, pouring it more slowly, but nevertheless tea dribbles down the spout. The best I can figure is to have the spout touching the cup rim so that whatever does dribble tends to make it into the cup anyways, but it's still not perfect and I usually end up having to clean up.I won't return it, I'll keep using it because I really like the Brown Betty, but I do need to have a towel on hand for after-pouring clean-up.What a shame. I was excited for my first Brown Betty. I suspect they don't make them like they used to.

A well-made teapot for a serious tea drinker
I'm not one of these modern "tea aficionados" that drinks one shotglass-sized cup of tepid spinach water a month and calls it a day, which seems to be the market that most teapots on Amazon are aimed at. Instead, I drink loose-leaf black tea by the pot-full on a daily basis, and so I need a teapot up to the challenge.I was a bit worried ordering this teapot because some of the previous reviews claimed that this teapot suffered from several of the flaws that I was trying to get away from in my current teapot, namely a dribbling spout and too many leaves flowing up the stem and into your cup. So while I'm sure that some pots suffer from these defects due to its being a hand-made product, I can safely report that mine doesn't. It is a joy to use and makes me look forward even more to my next pot.The following are some of the features I think a serious tea drinker would appreciate about this pot:1. Most importantly, the angle of the spout, unlike so many other teapots, is *properly shaped*! The main barrel of the spout is nearly perpendicular to the ground, and the spout joins the pot itself nearly halfway up its side, meaning that for most of the pour, the leaves that are likely to go up the spout are trapped either in the sharp bend of the spout or the space below the join. So many teapots have attractive but poorly designed sloping spouts that, if anything, guide stray leaves directly up the spout and into your cup. This is not one of them.2. The spout end is well shaped with a proper lip on the end, so the pour starts and stops abruptly with practically no dribbling.3. The ceramic is thin but strong, like good china, meaning that the teapot is surprisingly light but does have enough mass to hold heat in.4. Along with the pot's light weight, the handle is well shaped and balanced so that you can hold it without the weight of the pot pushing your fingers into the hot body and burning you.5. The pot has a wide top with no ridges, so that you can not only clean the pot free of leaves with a swish of hot water, but despite the dark glaze can actually see the leaves swirling in the pot.6. Speaking of the glaze, it's a very pretty dark reddish brown with a wonderful shine to it. You can even see the lighter red rings on both the pot and the lid where they sat in the kiln. Combined with the sharp lines of the shaped clay, this teapot has a lot of character.7. Some reviewers have complained that, for the four-cup model, four cups of liquid comes right up to the top of the lid. I would consider this simply accurate design. It does not impact the pot's function but in fact makes measurement easier.8. There's a steam vent in the lid so that condensation doesn't make a gasket at the connection between the lid and the pot.So while there may be a few copies that don't pass muster, I'd recommend ordering one and sending it back for another if it dribbles or pours too many leaves. Whether you luck out on the first go or have to send the first one back, it is possible to be very happy with this teapot. I know I am.

Too small for me.
This was a disappointment. I guess I confused American cups with English cups so this pot was significantly smaller than I had imagined. Upon research, the website does say it will hold 24 oz. or 4 6 oz. cups. I was looking for something twice this size or something holding 4 10 oz. cups. Will be sending it back for refund and do some shopping locally.

Very attractive, but the finish will crack easily with temperature changes (avoid using cold water on when it's still warm) and the handle is thin and cracked after one or two uses. The spout is prone to dripping while pouring. But it mixes tea well and does a good job keeping it warm.

Drippy.
I've wanted a Brown Betty for years and was thrilled to find they are being made in the UK again, but it drips horribly. Maybe it's just the small size, but it is a disappointment.

Three Stars
I returned this item because the lid was too large for the teapot.

It's Worth It All!
When I started drinking loose leaf teas, I quickly realized that I needed a teapot ASAP! I searched and searched Amazon for a good teapot when I finally stumbled across the Brown Betty. I have to say, I couldn't be happier with it!As a health nut and regular tea drinker, I didn't want a cheaply made teapot from China. The Brown Betty fills every one of my tea drinking needs! It's a cute little pot that is hand made in England, and it makes loose leaf teas wonderfully!I was worried at first that it wouldn't be big enough. But I bought the 4-cup pot, and it makes plenty of tea! I drink tea out of large mugs, and it makes enough to fill up my BIG mug two or three times.I use my Brown Betty literally every day, and couldn't possible love it anymore than I already do. It's a little more expensive than a cheap teapot from China, but is definitely worth every penny you'll spend.

Teapot does not hold up
This is the second Brown Betty teapot I have bought in the past 8 months. I love the tea they produce although the new one tends to dribble. The first pot developed cracks in the glazing both inside and out after 6 months . While we try to prepare the pot carefully before brewing tea, we figured that the mistake was ours. New pot ordered mid Jan. it already has started displaying "crazing" which is cracks in ceramic porcelain. The fault is in the product. Read on line that this was a common complaint. They can't fool me three times.
