Hammy and the dialogue are LOL funny! *by G***A on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 27, 2022* This is the second story of the Lucas Brothers series, that launched the Lucas universe. While this could probably be read as a stand-alone, why would you want to? For maximum reader satisfaction, I HIGHLY recommend that these be read in series order, as there are reoccurring characters, consecutive timelines and overarching themes.This contemporary romance is written with a sense of humor that had me laughing so hard I had tears running down my face and actually woke my husband up! From the “baby batter” to the pet cow that thinks it is a dog (plays fetch, loves belly rubs, etc.) I don’t know how Jordan Marie came up with some of these things, but can’t wait to read the next one.⛔️ Contains references to, or scenes detailing subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health issues (anxiety, depression, PTSD); steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, multiple hookups, etc.; violence such as fighting, assault, attempted rape, blackmail, betrayal, subterfuge, as well as the mental and physical abuse of a female and adult, etc.There are grammatical issues throughout, although nothing was difficult to interpret. These primarily included incorrect word choice / tense, missing words and extra inserted words. I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.I love me some Ida Sue and Janson, they both are scene stealers, but she really is over the top - love it! The things that she says just cracks me up and keeps me searching for her next scene. I think she needs her own story!This story has several sub-plots and a really good pace. We also get a chance to meet Black and he does sound interesting. The naming convention of the kids and grandkids still cracks me up.White is a professional football player for Dallas. He hurt his shoulder, so he had surgery. He is still recovering, but it is not healing like it should, so there is a chance he might not be able to return as the Quarterback.Kayla is White’s best friend and has been for years. She has been in love with him since he took her to prom after his brother (Green) cancelled on her when the girl he really wanted to go suddenly became available. White has no idea and Kayla has finally decided that she needs to let her dream of him go and find someone else. She wants a family and White has been very open about how he never wants kids or a wife.So Kayla decides to make a rational decision and accepts the proposal of a man even though it is not a love match. Tommy is still in love with his ex and is a good father to their child. Kayla dreads telling White because he is not a fan on Tommy or his ex (she is also the ex of one of White’s brother), but even she is surprised at White’s reaction.White can’t believe that Kayla is really thinking about marrying Tommy and why? Why would she do that? Kayla says because she is lonely and wants a family, but she still has time. White can’t let her make this mistake and is determined to find a way to stop their nuptials.Then after White is successful in getting Kayla to call it off, he has to stop her from going to a bar … geez what is going on? They are hilarious, emotional combustion and royal as family should be. And I need more of them.I loved Kayla and White together. They were witty, sexy and sweet. They both completed each other. Filling what was missing in theirs life.Kayla has some issues, which comes from her childhood. When it was reveal what she's been through, I couldn’t believe it. I so was pissed and wanted to beat the s*** out of someone's. It partly made me to understand her hang-ups. Because the way she saw herself disturbed me so much. Kayla is beautiful, sweet and loyal woman, that deserved for her all dreams to come true, but she was always putting herself down, always criticising herself and second guessing. It was painful to 'see' her like that and you just wanted to give her a big hug.But also, Kayla made me sometimes so frustrated with her. There was a secret she kept from White. Those things always so irks me. At the beginning, I could understand her reasoning. But latter it was just... She was so lost in her misery, she wasn’t listening a word White was saying. He may not been exactly blunt with his words about his feelings, because he isn’t flowery guy after all, but he was opening his heart for her and claiming her with every unsaid word, with every touch. She just needed to open her eyes to see and to feel it. But that secret made her so unhappy, scared and insecure, even though she was living a dream with him, that Kayla just couldn’t see anything else. She wanted to tell him about it. Kayla even was close a couple of times, but each time fear was keeping her back. Sometimes I thought that her fear and insecurities were much stronger then her love for White. And that was so sad. Because being with someone, meant talking with him not only about your dreams but fears too. Not to mention, for you to be really happy with someone, there shouldn't be any secrets that could smear special thing for you.And White.... I love that man. He's so bossy alpha. But also sometimes can be like a big kid, ready to cause mischief and make you laugh. On another time he can be really sweet, that you wish to cry happy tears, you are so touched by that side of his. I especially loved his possessiveness. Those growly caveman moments of his... Sighs. In all he was a perfect hero with his flaws, that made him even more ideal. I admit to wanting to slap White a few times just to kick him into gear.Kayla has loved White from a distance for years happy to be his friend it's because it's better than nothing.But she's unhappy with her life, she wants a baby. After making a short list of candidates she thinks it all going to be okay.White has other ideas after hearing about Kaylas baby plans. It unleashes a jealousy that White can't explain. It forces him to confront his feelings for Kayla and act on them before it's too late.This book was fantastic it had it all humour mixed with a dirty talking Alpha Male who knows exactly what he's doing.I adore this series I can't wait for book 3. I still love Ida Sue hard I love her humour and fierce protective streak for her family. The woman is as mad as a hatter. Who names all their kids after colours and flowers??? It's crazy but it works.I'm absolutely dying to read the other brothers story's, I'm especially excited for more about Cyan his secrets are going to be dark and I can not wait.Well done Jordan Marie this series is going on my instant 1 click list.
