Wonderful book, psychological and spiritual!
Wonderful read combining psychology and spirituality, as well as shamanic principles. If you haven't read an Alberto Villoldo book yet, this is a great one to start with. I have read "Shaman Healer Sage" and "Power Up Your Brain" prior to this, and what's great about this book is it begins with him as a 24-year old recent college graduate, embarking on an adventure through Peru - and continues, skimming over a few years. Next, I will be reading "Island of the Sun" which is basically a sequel to this one. It's a great read, with brilliant characters - and it makes you want to go there yourself! Villoldo combines narrative with philosophical perspectives, and you really can test your own beliefs and wander into a world of mysticism and shamanism. DEFINITELY recommend.

Astounding Story
Alberto Villoldo offers a stunning re-telling of his discovery of the gifts of the Inca Medicine Wheel. The story reads much like a novel, and yet the facts included here are the genuine journey of Alberto's path toward becoming a Shaman. The challenges he faced, and the lessons he learned, are encouraging to those who seek the Shaman's path through the Incan Medicine Wheel. Be careful. You may just buy a one-way ticket to Peru upon completion of this book. Inspiring from cover to cover.

Great book - well done - easy read
Dance of the Four Winds appealed to because of the storytelling style in which Villoldo's wisdom is shared. The easy prose style carries you along and then serves up smaller gems (and larger nuggets) of shamanic experience. It is at once less didactic than others like Shaman, Healer, Sage and more accessible. I think the storytelling style will help these lessons "stick" more easily and lend themselves to being called on, when needed, more reliably. Bravo! Well done!

Good choice if you have an interest in Shamanism
Like Island in the Sun, this is a book I had read when it was first published, the it got lost when I moved a few years ago. I wanted to reread it, because I find that this type of book, unlike a novel, can not be absorbed in one reading.

A wonderfull Teacher of a book!
As a shamanic practitioner life can sometimes be solitary and you dont always have people you can bounce ideas off. There is not always someone you can talk to and say "Has this ever happened to you" or "Do you know what this means?". This book has answered so many of those questions for me and brought areas of my understanding on in leaps and bounds. It is fascinating reading how the author ends up going through his own initiation and placed on the path of shamanism. From what started as a journey researching the uses of Ayauscha and its possibilities becomes a very personal journey. His accounts of Machu Picchu are amazing and at times startling.Im a lover of Carlos Castaneda but this guy takes things to a more understandable level and as a result the books messege becomes ever more poignant.Much Love!

The way of the Inca Shaman
As a Munay Ki Initiate, this book is invaluable! It explains one mans journey on the path of the Inca Shamans. I can't put it down! Not a storybook, more of an understanding of the Munay Ki rites & not to be taken lightly. If you are seriously on this path, then this is for you!

First read this book about 15 years ago, and ...
First read this book about 15 years ago, and have never forgotten it - part thrilling adventure story, part introduction to psychic awareness. Second only to 'The Third Eye' (by Lobsang Rampa) of that genre, in being totally absorbing.
