If your ultimate goal is to wield a razor sharp sword safely and effectively, you need to train with a sword that approximates the size, feel and heft of a live blade, yet minimizes the possibility of causing grievous, permanent, or life-threatening injury to yourself or your training partner. Made of polypropylene. Closely resembles the "live blade" in terms of weight and size. While they're not quite as rigid as wood, they have the advantages of being virtually unbreakable and remarkably stiff and cut resistant. This training aid will not rot, crack split or splinter. Review: They have survived many battles - As always, cold steel products are very reliable and polypropylene is indestructible unless you do something very stupid. I bought 2 of these bad boys to long sword fence with a friend. We are both reasonably in shape/strong 19 year old males, and we go full speed/strength. Polypropylene is honestly indestructible. It has been over a year and they are still in great shape. They are less wieldy than a live blade for sure, the point of balance makes them top heavy, but i feel this makes them very appropriate for beginners, as they are a little more clumsy in the hand, allowing more time for the opponent to react. I will note that when fencing with these blades, you should either wear protective gear, (old snowmobile helmets and hockey gloves) or avoid actually hitting your opponents, else you will both end up covered in welts. Fingers could definitely get broken. Polypropylene is quite dense and unforgiving. true swordsmanship is like a game of chess, the goal is to maneuver your opponent into checkmate (or exhaust them). For the price these are unmatched, the best European style practice blades for actual use. they would be very easy to modify with a belt sander if the point of balance is unacceptable. Personally I have come to enjoy their top heavy nature. On Guard!

I consider myself to be a pretty strong 18 year old, and I use two hands, but I am still able to hold and swing it one-handed. I just only use two hands because I swing hard when I fight with my buddy, and I'd swing too slow and wobbly if I used only one hand. It is very durable, it just might get scratched up some. I ordered a sewcond one of this a week or so after I got the first one because the first one broke, But only because my friend swung it as hard as he could downward on a thick tree trunk that had fallen over (thick enough to walk on) to see if it could damage the tree. The sword broke in half! the sword is strong enough to cut branches off tress, just don't swing at the trunks. I love the feel of the plastic and the black color is cool. The design is pretty minimal, which is fine with me, but doesn't capture my attention. I;m glad I got this, lots of fun to play around with. It hurts when you're hit hard with it, so just because it says training, don't give to little kids. It's basically a bat.

**Q: Will it cut things.**
A: It will not cut.

**Q: is it weighted (balanced) like a real, battle-ready, sword?**
A: The point of balance is quite off but isn't that bad for a two handed sword. It makes for wielding one-handed a bit tricky but the reason for the extra weight is that "blade" is quite bulky. It makes it far more heavier than an actual sword but also sturdy as a blunt trainer. If you wanted to get more nimbleness with this sword you could easily sand or grind down the blade a bit.The only complaint is the pommel is far too uncomfortable and sharp to hold with the off-hand for leverage. (Since holding with both hands on the guard doesn't really give enough because of the blade weight)This can also be solved by shaving down and rounding off the corners with sandpaper/grinder/file, or alteratively capping the pommel off with a heavy smooth metal or wood.

**Q: What is the rubber gasket for? Where does it go?**
A: That rubber gasket slips down the entire blade after the hand gaurd, and keeps the hand guard from slipping off.  It requires some force to fit the rubber over and down the blade.  One could use dish soap and water to help slip the rubber down completely, then just wash off the soap and water and let dry out.

As always, cold steel products are very reliable and polypropylene is indestructible unless you do something very stupid. I bought 2 of these bad boys to long sword fence with a friend. Lot of people complaining of this not being sharp, or club like, I disagreff egg the balance is off by a bit but a bolt in the pommel should help with that, but for 31$ me and two friends had a blast with these and got great exercise. Totally worth owning. It is a bit heavy if you were small, but that usually true of longswords
