Impressive Performance with Netgear Powerline Wi-Fi 1000, Even Under Tough Conditions!
I’m genuinely impressed by how well the Netgear Powerline Wi-Fi 1000 performed, even in a less-than-ideal setup. This product doesn’t rely on a traditional Wi-Fi signal through the air; instead, it uses your home’s electrical wiring to extend your network. That alone makes it a standout option for anyone dealing with distance or interference issues. Setting it up was incredibly simple and intuitive. Within minutes, it was up and running, and I appreciated the hassle-free experience. To test it, I used it in my RV, which is parked in my driveway about 150 feet from my indoor router. The RV is connected to shore power, so the Powerline technology was able to transmit the connection via the electrical wiring rather than through Wi-Fi signals. I didn’t expect it to work at this distance, so I was pleasantly surprised that it connected at all! However, after running a speed test, I found the connection was too slow for my needs, which include streaming and other high-bandwidth activities. It’s important to note that this is likely due to the challenges of my specific setup—150 feet is quite far, and the electrical wiring between my house and the RV may not be ideal for this technology. For anyone with a less complex setup, especially within a home or smaller area, this product would likely work exceptionally well. It’s a fantastic solution for extending your network without relying on traditional wireless signals. While I ultimately need to return it because it doesn’t meet my unique requirements, I’m thoroughly impressed with its performance, ease of use, and the concept of using Powerline technology for network expansion. I’d highly recommend it for anyone who needs a straightforward and reliable way to extend their internet connection in more traditional setups.

Simply amazing. Can't believe it took me this long to discover this product.
Excellent product. Works very well. Super easy to install. I had two goals: 1) strengthen the wifi signal in parts of my house; and 2) be able to stream 4K movies on my TV without having to run a 100' ethernet cable from one end of the house to the other (since my modem/router is at one end of the house and the TV is at the opposite end). I had several alternatives. I could have run an ethernet cable up the wall, through the attic, and out the other side. This would certainly have worked, but would have required drilling a couple holes, and spending a couple hours of either my time or an electrician's (expensive!) to run the cable. I had already tried a more powerful router and wifi extenders in the house, but the signal was still weak far away from the main modem/router. In order to assess the effectiveness of the Powerline 1200, I ran speed tests (using the FCC speedtest app) before and after installation. Just prior to installation, I had a download speed of 6 mbps. Just after, I had a wifi speed of 40 mbps! That's almost seven times faster--and more than enough to stream 4K video. I got the increased speed by installing one Powerline adapter next to the main modem/router. I installed the second at the far end of the house. The LED signal strength indicator light was showing either green or amber--so a signal strength of at least 50 mbps at the adapter. I then used an ethernet cable to connect my second router to this adapter. Now I can stream 4K videos on my TV over wifi, or by easily attaching a short ethernet cable from the TV to the router, which is placed on the shelf below the TV. Very, very happy with my $65 investment. Great product.

Not bad, but a couple issues
On the advice of a friend, I decided to try this out, since I have no way of running an ethernet line to my TV, which would occasionally buffer using wifi. I was a bit skeptical & was prepared to return this if it didn't work. Here's what I found: * I get less than half of the speed of my wifi when connecting this directly to my tv (35 instead of 80 or 90), but that's still fast enough for it to work. Every so often I get a little buffering, but not often and not much. Was just watching a football game on Fox Sports and it kept buffering over and over, but I got out of the stream and then back in, and had no problems after that. I've watched entire movies and football games with no problems. My 2 biggest (but not major) gripes are: 1) Whoever designed the plug in unit should be fired! If you plug this into your top outlet, it will obviously cover the bottom outlet as well. However, when plugged into the bottom outlet, the curve of the top of it totally prevents you from inserting a 3-prong plug into the top outlet!! Sure, there's a pass-through outlet built into the unit, but this should *not prevent you from using the top outlet as well! SMH 2) I was impressed that this package came with 2 ethernet cables to be used both with your modem and whatever device you want to plug into the other end. However, they are *very* short cables and neither one of them was long enough to be used for my application. Had to go out and get 2 longer cables So, just a couple negatives to go along with the ok performance of this device - have been running it for several weeks now & see no reason to return it or stop using it... for now.

Bought this to use in my shop about 125ft from my house. Easiest to set up from within your house, by creating a secure connection first, then bringing the one out to remote plug. Works through two breaker panels. Streams YouTube just fine. Having troubles setting up a wireless router to use with it in the shop, but direct to PC no problem.

The part works well when plugged in the same room as the router. But that kind of defeat the purpose of the purchase. It works well in the detached garage...... But I do not need wifi in the garage. I wanted wifi in the barn but no success!

This item shipped super-fast and I had it set-up within minutes. The green lights on the connection indicated that all plugs I tried it on were optimal - house is large, but wiring is all within 15 years old, so I'm not sure if older homes would have the same results. I tested it on our office VOIP phone, and the sound/connection was great. The next test will be connecting it to our smart TV in the basement - opposite end of the house from the router. If the result is any less than the positive experience with the VOIP phone, I'll update the review with more details. UPDATE: there have been a couple of instances where the lights have gone from 3 to just 2 (3rd is network connection) in one of the rooms, which disconnected the VOIP phone - In some instances, I had to reset all 4 (I have 2 sets), and in one instance, I didn't have time, and I let it sit a day, and it went back online by itself. This was annoying, but I'm not 100% sure of the cause yet. It may have something to do with how I have set things up in the house. This has happened 3 times in a period of 4 months, so far.
