Animal Alphabet Follow-the-Dots (Dover Little Activity Books: Alphabet)

I have bought almost all the books that are published under the name Dover little activity books. My 4 years old son likes carrying them around and working on them all the time. We have a few in the car that keeps him engaged during our long morning and afternoon commutes and they really help him improve fine motor skills as well as being a practice for the alphabet. For those who are not familiar with these activity books: They are pocket size black/white activity books that consist of repetitive tasks depending on the book. Dot connection with numbers or letters (like this one). mazes, hidden pictures, spot the differences are the major categories and each book has one of these categories. There are sub categories depending on the concept. For example this one is animals which means all dot connections will reveal an animal picture, it can be transportation, outer space etc... For less than $1.5 this is a great book to help your child spend quality time. They are not very difficult tasks so that it further encourages him for spending more and more time with the books. I will probably end up buying the whole set and then buy them again for my younger one..

These are perfect for my preschooler to learn her alphabet. My only two small complaints are 1. I wish you could tear out the pages 2. The book is very small 3x5 which makes it a little difficult for my four year old to draw lines in. It has been a life saver on road trips and it restaurants so that's a good note to the small size.

Not only is this a fun book but educational as well. We are very pleased with this little book that is chocked full of interesting animals and a great way to enforce the learning of the alphabet. The children love them.

We love these Dover books for road trips and restaurants. My 6 yr old gets a great sense of accomplishment from this particular one. He uses his knowledge of the alphabet to complete an animal picture, and he loves animals! He is always excited to show me a completed page.

A child has no problem reading and using the book. However if an adult wants to sit with the child and use it as a learning tool, it doesn’t work well. It’s just really small.

I have bought tons and tons of the $1.50 Dover sticker books over the last couple of years to entertain my son in restaurants, church and long car trips. The sticker books have gotten a little too easy for him at the grand old age of 4 so I tried a couple of the maze and dot to dot books. He loves them! I like that this dot to dot is follow the alphabet rather than follow the numbers, makes for a nice change.

I bought this for my granddaughter to use on the plane but she was not interested. Well it was summer and she was coming with me for a week so maybe she will want to play with it later. I think using the alphabet is a great idea for a dot-to-dot.

Wonderful little book! I gave it to my 4 1/2 year old granddaughter as a Valentine's Day present and it was a big hit because it was letters instead of numbers. I don't understand why people were complaining about the size of the book, it is the quality that counts. This is a small book but it well designed. You can't tell right away what the animal is until you connect the dots and in cheaper books you can tell right away what the picture is so there is no surprise. It also gives you a hint what the animal might be such "Which animal likes to eat termites? Connect the dots and find out." It has 63 high quality puzzles which is quite a few in my opinion.
