Nordic Ware Classic Metal 9x13 Covered Cake Pan

I, too, thought it seemed thin and flimsy when I first got the pan, but after using it a few times I absolutely love it. I do use it for baking cakes and storing them in the pan using the lid. Cakes bake up perfectly in the pan. The cake plus frosting stay moist and don't dry out when keeping the lid on during storage. It's easy to get the lid on and off once you figure out how to do it. The lid has one end that is used to open it and the other end has to hook onto one end of the pan. It doesn't just pry off any which way. I don't bake cakes often, but they keep for days perfectly in this pan with the lid! I suppose this pan would dent if I threw it around and dropped metal tools on it, but that hasn't happened and it has not been dented, so far. I guess it has scratches on it, but metal pans do scratch over time. But the scratches are minor and cosmetic only and don't impair the function of the pan. I haven't washed it in the dishwasher; I wash it by hand, which is how I wash all my baking pans and trays. It probably also depends on what kind of dishwasher detergent is used, as some detergents are more corrosive to metal than others. I avoid products with citric acid as I have vintage silverware and citric acid is hard on silverware. I have not used it to bake a casserole in and I imagine that some foods might become stuck on, but that is the nature of the metal without some kind of non-stick coating. I don't want non-stick coating, so I don't bake something that is going to get all blackened and baked on. If that happened, I would soak it and use something like BarKeepers Friend. Over time, aluminum can lose its shine due to use but that is normal wear and tear. We really love this pan!

This has been my most favorite baking pan ever! I've been baking for 25 years and have used a lot of different equipment. I was concerned at first that this pan being bare aluminum would cause major sticking, but it's not even an issue if you use baking spray or grease and flour.It's lightweight, which as you get older, is definitely a plus! But it's also very sturdy to carry places and you can put stuff on top if it. It's very deep, so you don't have to worry about anything rising over the edge. It bakes very evenly. I do find it helpful to place it on a big baking tray because the bottom is thin. The snap on lid makes it so convenient for taking to events, pot lucks, etc. I only use this to bake sweet dishes, desserts and cakes.I can't recommend this pan highly enough! If you bake and take things a lot, this is a game changer!

I love my new cake pan. I already had 3 others, but they were old and scratched up and I certainly wouldn't bake something and take any of them to any kind of get together. I have used it several times now and my cakes have come out beautifully! I do not use a knife to cut my cakes in this pan. I use a firm spatula and that way it won't get scratched like the others did. It truly seems to bake my cake to perfection! They all turn out perfect and delicious!

Great baking pan. Metal cover is a little hard to get on and off. It is sturdy and size is perfect..

Quite nice. Convenient, attractive and functional cover. Recommended.

These pans are amazing. I got 2 sets of these pans a couple of months ago and they were so great that I ordered another 2. Not an ounce of rust and they have been used multiple times. I bake breads, pies and sorts of great goodies and they are awesome. Food never burnt. Fits well in my oven and they are stackable. Cleans easily.

I'm surprised the LID'S Edging, is sharp enough to Cut your finger! The LID Doesn't snap On & Off as easily as one would expect, knowing the famous brand! Poor engineering & poor Quality Control.
