Really fun puzzle/model, works perfectly, with a few caveats....
Got this for my wife for x-mas as a fun little activity for us to work on while we watch TV at night, and couldn't be more please with the result! This was our first 3D style wooden puzzle/model, prior to this we'd done some more advanced lego sets, but this was much more fun and engaging for several reasons....- first, it's challenging....honestly it felt a little overwhelming when we first opened the box and looked through the instructions. It is way harder than the most advanced lego kits out there, because the pieces won't just snap into place automatically. It requires some steady hands and lot of patience for some of the steps, but nothing that requires a Phd or engineering degree- secondly, it looks beautiful! way more appropriate to leave out on the shelf as a decorative piece than a lego toy. It's also fully functioning and self-powered, so no need to ever crack it back open for any reason!Pro tip: some of the earlier steps (especially where you mount the gear wheel to the alternator that powers the light) will result in loose fitting connections that seemingly won't hold....that made me worried about whether this thing would ever work correctly. However, my concerns were unwarranted, because the subsequent steps add in stabilizing bearings and connections that tighten everything up and result in a perfectly working unit at the very end, if you follow all the steps correctly. In fact, I was ultimately extremely impressed with how precisely the pieces were cut and manufactured. The tolerances are all very tight and sturdy and you can tell the designers really prioritized that with this model. 100% would recommend to anyone looking for a challenge, you won't be disappointed!

More challenging
This is the second Rokr wooden puzzle I have assembled. I found this puzzle more challenging than my first, which was the Marble Run Explorer. Learning from experience, I was careful to wax the pieces indicated as moving parts. Some of the pieces weren't holding together during assembly, so for my own sanity, I used a dab of wood glue to keep them together while I progressed. And a few of those pieces I had to gently pull back apart due to subsequent steps, but no harm was done. I appreciate that there was a redundant part for a fragile piece I broke (be careful when punching out E23 and E24, but there are replacements). At completion, the Vitascope is assembled, sturdy, and working, and I love it. It's quite interesting and beautiful.Update:Not all heroes wear capes! I was browsing Rokr's site and found this link. It looks like these guys will send you parts if you need them, see the Parts Request tab.https://rokrpuzzles.com/contact-us/

Fun build
It wasn’t a long build but it was definitely fun and had its challenges. The product had clear instructions and pieces that were easy to remove from the board without damaging them. The little flicker video is super cute and fun to show people. I’d definitely recommend

Good gift for grandson
This is a gift for my grandson. The shipment was good and the kit looks colorful and like it is good quality in the box. I am sure he will enjoy putting it together.

Def not for a beginner -- but super fun to put together!
Note: If you haven't done a wooden puzzle before, this might be a very very challenging one to start with.I had so much fun putting this together! This is most definitely one of the more challenging Rockr puzzles - so make sure you're paying attention to the direction of the pieces (it DOES matter), and reading the directions through before putting it together.I was very lucky that the film instantly latched onto the gears and wasn't a headache as I've seen from other reviews.Overall, a super fun project that took me about 4 hours to put together. The end results was so satisfying!!

Really fun, advanced build
One of the best builds that ROKR has to offer, outside of maybe the marble runs. A great build for anyone 8-90 years of age. It uses standard 35mm film but with different sprocket holes cut in it. Which is a bummer. It would have been fun to run standard 35mm film through it. The way they designed the intermittent is really cool. This is a must for anyone that has worked with film, at a theatre, or is just a big fan of movies and classic equipment. It has a real steam punk vibe (but all in wood). Very happy with this product, i just wish it wasn't quite this expensive so that i could gift it to more people. I would have also liked to try building one with painting the appropriate parts to make it look like metal first. This was a lot more fun to build than classic plastic model kits. It wasn't as miticulus as those are but still advanced enough so that you really fealt accomplished afterwards. Honestly, i highly recommend it. I don't think you will be dissapointed.
