Another pleasing book in Mick Walker's series.
A friend lent me Mick Waker's Italian Racing Motorcycles and got me hooked. As with his other books, you get a nice mini history of the company origins, their racing program and some wonderful period images of the bikes and the racers. I now own the whole collection.

Jaw Dropping
A great work by one of the greatest authors in motorcycle writing. This volume contains chapters tracing the rich racing history of continental Europe's lesser-known motorcycle manufacturers. Some of these companies only existed for a brief time, while others are still producing Championship-winning road racing bikes today.Mick gives you a good overall history of the motorcycle manufacturers he covers. Manufacturers like Austria's KTM, France's ELF, and the Czech Jawa company to name just a few. Riders are noted as well, along with pictures of the bikes in action at the world's greatest road racing venues.A must have for any motorcycle road racing enthusiast. You're bound to discover a bike or company that you never heard or knew of. A simple and easy book that reads quick and leaves you wanting more. I highly recommend it.

Not merely "also rans"
While there's no shortage of books chronicling the contributions that the motorcycle industries of Britain, Italy, Germany and Japan made to Grand Prix racing, the smaller European nations seem to have been overlooked. With this book, Mick Walker goes a long way to righting that wrong and reminds us that without the likes of Jawa and Bultaco, the racing landscape of the 50s and 60s would have been much poorer. Mick combines just the right amount of technical information with interesting biographical information on those who designed them and those who rode them. The photographs are excellent and the layout is easy on the eye. If you felt your racing library was incomplete, this could be the one that fills an important void.
