Works wonderfully; great value for the price
Unlike many reviewers, I didn't buy this unit to eliminate odors. I wish it had been that simple. I needed a powerful unit to kill very aggressive black mold, which had spread throughout the house from spores in the basement shower which had gone unseen and unaddressed for months or longer. In only a few cases was mold visibly present on a surface. Most of the time my body (which had become mold-sensitive) simply registered a "presence" in a kitchen cabinet, a closet, etc. How do you kill something you can't see? You flood the area with ozone for a few hours.I would wash whatever I could (dishes, towels, clothes, etc.), wipe down what I could, toss out a few things, quarantine a few other things in plastic bags, then flood the space with ozone using a dollar store plastic drop cloth and blue masking tape to contain the gas. At one point I used this technique to flood ozone through a long stretch of gas baseboard heaters...because mold loves to feed on dust. On another occasion I built an "ozone box" for decontaminating small items by wrapping a card table with a drop cloth and lots of duct tape. I cut a small hole in the side and attached the ozone generator to the *outside* with carpet tape vs. placing it *inside*. This can be important if you're aiming for the highest concentrations, because it can't make more O3 from existing O3, but only from a constant source of fresh oxygen. And yes, ozone itself can be hazardous to your health. I once got a full breath of ozone by opening the box too soon and coughed uncontrollably for 10-15 minutes. No permanent harm done, but this isn't a toy.Maybe the above steps were sometimes overkill, but good health and peace of mind is priceless.A few comments. The timer switch is mechanical, so be sure it's the last thing you set, as it doesn't need electricity to start ticking down. If the max 180 minutes isn't enough, there is a Hold/Continuous setting instead. In this case, run an extension cord well outside the treated area and physically pull the plug when you're satisfied. Some truly professional models offer a hose attachment to get into small spaces, but I used closet-style generators likehttps://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01ER39BFAwith a stainless steel straw duct taped to the output hole for those jobs. Truly professional models can produce more ozone, but discounting the largest spaces, running a competent, affordable unit for a slightly longer time should make up for that. There are likely many comparable units for similar prices which will do the job, but this one was the right price at the right time and I wasn't disappointed.

More than 4,000mg/h Ozone Output
I have worked in the flood and fire restoration industry for 8 years, which definitely isn’t my favorite job. My boss does both residential and commercial. For post fire restorations, the smoke smell is usually bad enough that we can’t perform any work without neutralizing the smoke remains with an ozone generator. During this process we seal the area and monitor the ozone levels in the air to make sure we are producing enough ozone to neutralize the square footage we are restoring. Without ozone generators, myself and co-workers risk damaging our lungs from carcinogens in the air.I’ve tried a wide price range of ozone generators from low dollar consumer units with less than 2,000 mg/h use to top dollar commercial units up to 14,000 mg/h units, which work great as well. Our company has actually found good value with the Enerzen units for the price. Some of the features that make these units a better value than others we previously purchased on Amazon are:PROS:1) The ozone output is a consistent 14.3ppm @ 80 cfm = 4,157 mg/h average throughout the entire treatment process. When I monitored the ozone output with meters at job sites, the ozone output fluctuated between 4,100 mg/h and 4,200 mg/h, which is more than it is rated for. Other Amazon units, both different and similar in appearance, couldn’t maintain the steady output needed to properly treat an area and many were weaker than advertised.2) The fan is strong and the heat sinks work well enough that the ozone output doesn’t cut out. We’ve tried open bare units with no cases because they were cheaper for greater ozone output. However, the lack of a fan and heat sinks on these type of units caused the parts to overheat stopping ozone production mid treatment, resulting in us having to retreat the area.3) The internal parts are modular, inexpensive, and available. So far, I’ve had to replace the ozone plates a few times, but we always got close to or exceeded the rated usage hours. Previous Amazon purchases with similar looking units to the Enerzen had a usable time up to several thousand hours less than advertised.4) The units are cheap enough that if anything major goes wrong, we can just replace them rather than repair them similar to printers in our office that say replace the drum unit for $60 when a new printer only costs $90. When our 7,000 and 14,000 mg/h had issues some of the replacement parts were over $150, so it now makes more sense for us to use several Enerzen units to obtain a similar effect.CONS:1) The units start to make louder than normal buzzing noises after 40,000 hours of usage. We have had more expensive units do this after 55,000 hours. The units will continue to work, but can become a nuisance if you are going to use the units within earshot. Pro tip: only use ozone generators in well sealed areas and never occupy the same space or your lungs will regret it very quickly.2) The cord is only 5 feet long. Many higher end 14,000 mg/h units will come with a 12 feet long cord.3) There are no wheels on the base. Many higher end 14,000 mg/h units will come with wheels on the bottom making them more mobile. However, I guess the Enerzen units don’t weigh nearly as much as those larger units.

Clean Air once again
This is a great little product. I will probably have to buy another one since my apartment is 900 sf and I want one in the bedroom and one in the living room, dining room kitchen area. It makes the house smell clean and different when you come back after a couple of hours. At the end of every cycle, you do have to set a timer on your watch because you’re not allowed to come back into the room or the building, until it has dissipated for 30 minutes.

It actually worked for me
There are a lot of mixed reviews here, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But I was tired of the musty 'grandma's house' smell of our older house. Using a steam cleaner on the carpets and doing the typical deep-clean stuff we all do never did much other than temporary abatement. The smell always came back. I didn't want to replace the still-decent carpet or repaint, etc. so I figured why not.Decided that for the cost, I may as well try it. I could always return it if nothing came of it. My scenario- 65 year old 1200 square foot house, no basement. First time I used it was for 30 minutes. Afterwards was the post-rainfall smell many have mentioned, but it dissipated quickly and there was no difference in the original gramma-ness. Second treatment was 45 minutes a few days later- same. No difference after the ionization wore off.Third try was 2 hours (I was nervous about this since reviews mentioned long runs can be detrimental). Came back the next day, and the musty grandma was replaced by what reminded me of old mop water (clean but dirty, no mustiness). After a few days, that wore off, and the original smell was gone. It has not yet returned as of this review. Very surprised and impressed. I was ready to wrap it up and sent it back, but I'm keeping it now.
