French hip hop has never disappointed me, and still it delivers
French hip hop has never disappointed me, and still it delivers. The beats are tight as hell, boom bap e.coast style ,but sound real fresh. the music has that typical French mystique, classical\gentle piano riffs..its film noir ,smokey,atmospheric...nicely produced.... Just buy it!!!..

"Personne Échappera L'opéra"
Oxmo Puccino's début really took me by surprise, I had heard of him on other stuff back in 1997, but when L'Opéra Puccino hit the shelves, the productions were beautiful, melodic, and most of all rather different from what the others were producing, with his DJ mixing old jazz records and such into the mix. Some of the finest moments on here include the work he did with K-Reen, Akhenaton and Freeman, and his own lyrical expertise really shine here, like L'enfant Seule, where he describes being a lone child in the world; his Pulp Fiction-esque Hitman; and Peur Noire, which has the best instrumental of 1998 in my opinion.Oxmo doesn't censor his words, but he stays pretty respectful to women and only uses his lyrics to mirror a problem, like the gang wars, or the attitude of his neighbours, and its quite descriptive. Some people have said he's the French Biggie Smalls, but his lyrics are a bit more developed and have a totally different sense to them, where as Biggie loved to talk about his conquests, Oxmo likes to make complicated lyrics about his life. This is worth buying straight off, I've not had this out of my CD player in the past 11 years, it's been brilliant and enjoyable every time. I initially upgraded from tape, but it was always in my Walkman, and I wore it out. This is classic French rap, with the maestro directing the operations, and Oxmo's intermediate lyrics shine here.Worth every penny
