PrepWorks 5pc Measuring Spoons Set – Stainless Steel, Accurate Measurements for Cooking and Baking, Easy-to-Read, BPA-Free

I bought a version of this set from Macy's four years ago. It was made for the Martha Stewart brand and the plastic part in the middle of each spoon was a different color, but the set was otherwise the same. Now, four years later, I still use the spoons regularly and they are still in great condition: they haven't fallen apart, they aren't bent, and the writing on the plastic part hasn't come off yet (although the writing on my most used spoon is a little smeared). I will say that I make sure to be careful with them. For example, I always hand-wash them in warm, not hot, water because I think washing these in the dishwasher could loosen the plastic part and the hot water could wash away the writing on the plastic, but maybe I'm being a little paranoid. I like these measuring spoons for the same reasons everyone else does. You basically get two sets of measuring spoons, which means you don't have to wash a measuring spoon to measure two different things. One end of each measuring spoon is narrow to fit into spice jars (sometimes I wish I had a set where both ends are narrow). The spoons are designed such that, when you set a spoon down on the counter, it remains perfectly level. And, of course, the best part about these spoons is that they are magnetic. I don't like measuring spoon sets that are kept together such that you can't separate them easily or at all. If I only need a teaspoon of something, the other spoons automatically come along with the teaspoon, and then they might get dirty and I'd have to wash them, even though I didn't use them. But the main reason I like the magnetic feature is that I'm not one of those cooks that gets everything ready before I start cooking. I often measure things as I go along and these spoons suit my style of cooking. The magnets are strong enough to keep the set together, but weak enough so you can separate the spoons with one hand. Some possible cons: - Someone's review mentioned that the spoons can attach themselves to unintended items. That's true; my spoons sometimes attach to my stainless steel measuring cups or sink, but that doesn't bother me. As I mentioned before, the magnets are weak enough to separate the spoons from other items easily. I didn't even remember that this happens until I read it in that other person's review. - I would definitely prefer if the writing on each spoon were engraved or embossed on the plastic instead of printed, but it doesn't bother me enough to remove any stars. I just try to be careful when I wash the spoons. I love this set so much that I just bought this set as a gift for a friend. I compared this new set with my Martha Stewart set and, fortunately, I did not run into any of the knock-off problems that other people encountered because the spoons were exactly the same. However, I do wish Progressive would sell a multi-colored version like the Martha Stewart set. Not only is it fun, but having color-coded spoons is helpful.

► Why I like it: These are very accurate. I test measured them using water and my scale and found them to be spot on when the hydrogen bond of the water reached a medium or average sized mound. I did not push it to the maximum, as that was not necessary. Unlike older reviews, mine have the Progressive logo on them and are well made with smooth edges. I received mine on July 13, 2016. I like how they nest very easily. Having the magnets hold them together makes it super easy to separate and put back together. You can also store these on one of those magnetic knife bars if you wanted to. Having both the dry and wet measure for each size on the same spoon is very handy. Many a time when I am using them I find that I need the same measure for both wet and dry. Having two on one means that I do not have to worry about drying a wet spoon in between. I am free to not have to plan ahead of time to avoid drying like I used to do in the past. You don't realize how handy that really is until you use it and discover for yourself. I also like the assortment of sizes. The only one missing is the 1/8th, but really, that's just a pinch anyhow. Having the wider assortment of sizes makes measuring faster and less cleanup as you are not having to combine two measures to get what you need. With flat bases, these stand straight up, full or empty, on any level surface. This is super nice, as you can pre-measure whatever you need to and not worry about it tumbling over when you set it down. A few have said that their markings have started to wear off. I have not experienced that. Maybe that was from the knock-offs that apparently were sold here for a while. I hand wash mine simply because it is faster and it lets me keep them all together and put them all away from those hands that may not tend to put things back (I think we all have one in the family like that). ► Pros: Very accurate. Includes the ml equivalent. Has both a dry and wet measuring spoon for each size. Magnets hold their nesting together making it super easy to separate. No chain or ring to clip and unclip to use these. Stand straight up, full or empty, on any level surface. ► Cons: None. Some have said their labels are beginning to wear, but I have not experienced that. Mine are genuine Progressive products with their logo. ► Suggestions for Improvement: None. ► Would I buy again? These really are the best measuring spoons I've owned. I've had: -One set of cheap Walmart plastic ones, -Two sets of slightly nicer KitchenAid plastic ones, -One set of OXO plastic handled/stainless steel spoon ones, (my boyfriend's, so we still have these) -One set of stainless steel (a gift) I never spent more than $6 on a set, since I was in college and hey, measuring spoons are measuring spoons. I have purchased two sets of these. The first was for myself; I purchased it over a year ago and it's still going strong (and I cook at least four times a week, and bake once or twice a week, so these are in heavy rotation!). I purchased the second set as a gift for my boyfriend's father, who enjoys baking and cooking. These are fantastic spoons. The slimmer side fits into spice jars; I can even get the half-tablespoon size into my larger-mouthed spice jars, though not the tablespoon-sized one. That certainly does not warrant these losing a "star," as I rarely need a half-tablespoon amount of any one spice, much less a full tablespoon. These are dishwasher safe. These have been run through my dishwasher many times without discoloring, the labels fading (which happened on the Walmart set during handwashing, and both KitchenAid sets in a dishwasher even though they were labelled dishwasher safe; I did NOT use a heat dry setting). The magnets are a brilliant touch: it lets you keep all the spoons together, without the fuss of wrangling one off of a ring. I didn't mind the latter so much, but my boyfriend's father did. He in fact kept all the spoons on the ring, and threw them all in the dishwasher. My boyfriend's mother, like me, takes them off to use them one by one. They've been married for years, so clearly this hasn't caused any severe disputes. However, I like to think I've added to their domestic bliss :) I still have my other stainless steel set, but that set has been relegated to the back of the cabinet with my cookie cutters and cake tins, since I only need to dig them out for big baking projects (such as the holidays). We still have the OXO ones, since those are my boyfriend's. (I've edited this review to include the fact I have stainless steel measuring spoons and OXO spoons -- I forgot to include them in the first go-round, because I so rarely use them they didn't even register. That's how good these magnetic measuring spoons are!)

10/10/13 I received these from Amazon around 9/18/13. I just love these! I've used them quite a bit since receiving them and think they are fabulous. I don't understand why anyone would say they are flimsy...this makes no sense. These are small measuring spoons...how thick and heavy can they be...my goodness...they are as thick and sturdy as they can be for their size and at an excellent price. You can find heavier measuring spoons by All Clad for $23+-, although I am sure some people will find something to complain about them as well. I don't know what some people expect. Prior to purchasing them I read many of the reviews and did see that people had a problem with the magnet coming out. I personally would not put these in the dishwasher. The high temp of the dishwasher water may be able to melt the glue that holds the magnets so why bother putting them in the dishwasher. I don't have a problem washing things by hand...do it all the time. I would not let them soak in hot hot water for the same reason. When I'm done using them I'm just soaping them up in medium hot water rinsing and drying. Pretty easy! It is just as fast as putting them in the dishwasher and then getting them out and putting them away. Often with little spoons like this you end up having to hand dry them anyway because all of the water did not get out of the spoon cavity. If the magnets do fall out we will just use a good glue and put them back in. It is not going to be deal breaker for me. Also, I read in reviews that people complained about the ink/paint marking the sizes coming off. Again, the strength of dishwasher detergent is certainly strong enough to break down the size markings..so again, washing by hand avoids this problem. Some complained that they would not sit flat on the countertop. I'm looking at my set right now as I type this and my spoons are sitting on the counter and are perfectly balanced. I can see no reason for them to tip over other than if you bump them or have ghosts. People just want to complain...period! These are very very nice and I do like how they connect via the magnet. I am going to purchase another set for myself and will no doubt buy them for gifts. I will recommend to all that they be washed by hand...what is the big deal...

These measuring spoons have a lot going for them. I love the way they all nest together and are held together magnetically. It's so much nicer than battling with that awkward metal ring when it comes to choosing your spoon. The magnetic 'cling' is just about right. They are easy to separate, but at the same time, yOu can grasp just one of the spoons and carry the whole set and even give it a slight shake without the rest of them falling. I love that each spoon is balanced and you can set it down and have it rest flat (and level). I also love the each spoon is really two spoons. Now, they are designed so that that end with the skinny spoon can reach into narrow spice containers, and it does function that way. An additional benefit is that you can use the two spoon ends as 'wet' vs 'dry' measure. How annoying is it to measure a tespoon of, say, oil or lemon juice, and then have to rinse and dry the spoon in order to then measure something dry. That isn't necessary with this set- just use the other side. I reduced the rating one star because a. these are stainless steel yet they still seem rather lightweight and flimsy to me. I suspect they chose to make them from such a lightweight material so that the magnets would hold them all together a little more firmly, but they just don't feel very substantial in your hand. And b. the markings are printed on the plastic 'handle' in the center of each spoon (not engraved or pressed into the metal portion of the handle). This printing WILL rub off over time. It is inevitable. Overall, I do recommend this set. I really love using them, but they aren't going to last forever and will probably need to be replaced at some point.

My recent semi-retirement saw me go hog wild into what has become an obsessive baking habit. With that in mind I naturally armed myself with all the tools of the trade, including these wonderful measuring spoons. I have an older set on a ring but they are clumsy to use, so these have become my go to set for all my baking needs. There are two major advantages to this set. The first is that they have magnets in each spoon, which allows them to nest one inside the other, and stay together. This is a wonderful thing when you need to get them out of your "all purpose" drawer in the kitchen. No more hunting around for that missing spoon! The second advantage is that you have both the round and oval ends to the spoons. I've found that I use the round end the most, since I'm usually measuring from large containers such as flour or sugar. However I have used the oval ends several times when measuring out of spice bottles and containers. Being able to get into the smaller size containers, instead of having to try and pour the spice out, is a great advantage. I always hand wash and dry the spoons after use so that they are not subjected to the harsh dishwasher detergent. This keeps them shiny and clean with minimal fuss. If you're in the market for a good set of measuring spoons, look no further. These will do you just fine!

This is 2nd set purchase. The first set purchased July 2012. I use them a lot! Scanning over other reviews, I can only reiterate. I have purchased again because I enjoy these spoons so much, I wanted to have a back up set! Regarding the labeling wearing off, there are no signs of this at all. I wash them both by hand and in dishwasher. They are showing no signs of wear. As far as being flimsy, I don't know what others are using their spoons for, but mine are really strong. They don't bend! To reiterate from other reviews, magnetic feature is great! Keeps things organized and you don't have to bother with a ring every time you pick them up. Just pull it off. They stay together in the drawer. They will occasionally attach to another kitchen item, but very rare. No big deal when they do. Like others have experienced, having both a narrow and round end is great also. Narrow end will fit into containers. You can also use the other end without having to stop and wash quickly when in middle of recipe when it calls for another spoon of something but different ingredient. My only wish for improvement would be they include a 1/8 spoon!!! I won't ding them for that though. I've already purchased one separately (without magnet tho).

love the finishing and how it can be stacked in one pile. the narrow shaped spoons are very helpful to access difficult opening of jars.

These magnetic measuring spoons are good quality and easy to use. While magnetic, you can one handedly pick the desired size while still stirring or cutting.

Love the spoons dual sidedness but the measurement markings have already started coming off and it’s just about a month old ! Very a. poor quality given my kitchen aid ones lasted years
