Armitron Sport Men's Digital Chronograph Resin Strap Watch, 40-8231

This watch works great! I’ve had it for over a year and I wear it regularly while working and during workouts. I’ve never had a problem with it once. I’ve worn other cheap sports watches in the past and they usually break within a couple of months due to how harshly I treat them. This watch has stood the test of at least a year (and still going strong)! It has a large face that is extremely easy to read but it’s also very light for how big it is. It has an alarm (which is quite loud), lap timer, countdown timer, hourly chime, and military time, however, I really only use the normal time and alarm. The light up face lasts for three seconds and is helpful when in dark places such as bars. The adjustable rubber band fastens with a buckle clasp, is very comfortable and most of the time I barely notice I have the watch on. It’s also water resistant. I’ve read other reviews that stated it didn’t work in the water but I shower and go swimming with it on often and I’ve also been in the ocean with it and I haven’t had a problem yet. The only two negative things I’ll say about this watch is that the chrome paint began to peel around the face, but I’ll chalk that up to normal wear and tear. The other thing is that the compass marking are purely aesthetic and are not functional, so don’t buy if you are considering that aspect of the watch. Other than that this watch works great and it was money well spent! I recommend buying it to everyone who wants a visually appearing and highly functioning sports watch. I’m definitely going to be buying another one when I outlive this one!

I bought the watch because it has a tachymeter scale. That wasn't the only reason, but it was the deciding factor. I have not seen another digital chronograph at any price with this feature, so I figured I'd give this watch a try because of its low price. At the worst, I'd have a pretty stylish beater watch for weekends. What I have is a watch that looks good enough to wear everyday to my business-casual workplace. On my small wrist it looks rather big but not to the point of looking oversized. it fits well and is quite comfortable. This doesn't strike me as a watch for a triathlete, but for someone hiking, camping, or just on a road trip, it's plenty of watch for the money. The bezel is brighter than it appears in the picture and stands out from the stainless steel accents on the strap, but this keeps it from looking like other watches that I have that are all black plastic. There are gimmicky styling details, like the compass points on the stationary bezel, and the display itself seems to be of a school of design where clutter = sophistication. Once you see where everything is, though, it all makes sense. Except for the subdial at 3 o'clock. Not sure what's going on there. I hope this watch holds up as well as other reviews seem to indicate that it will. (I read the reviews after purchasing the watch.) It is one of the more accurate watches that I own--a collection with a lot of Casio watches--and was easy to set up. In addition to the tachymeter, the inner bezel also has clock markings which not only are essential to the tachymeter not just being for show but also allow the watch to be used as a compass, assuming you know how to use an analog watch as a compass. It's not like I do this that often, but I like that I can. It adds two more functions to a watch that already does a lot for a nice price. So buy it for whatever reason you like.

First let me say that this is a very nice watch for the money. But it is no Casio. The feel of the watch is ultra light which can only mean 1 thing, it's got more plastic in it than rubber and we all know that G-Shocks have very hard rubber around their watches for a reason and that is to protect them. This watch is plastic and I doubt seriously if it would take a very hard bump on the ground or against the wall. The watch does have a great look and the digital readout is very easy to read. As far as operating the watch, it's about as simple to operate as a 4 button remote control. This watch is also fairly comfortable compared to other watches the same size. Honestly, it feels better on than all my G-Shocks. As far as the mechanical/electronic operation of the watch I think it is a very fine & accurate timepiece. I would recommend this watch to a responsible adult for casual use, but I would not recommend that you work in it if you have a job where you use your hands a lot or swing a hammer on a regular basis as it's just not that kind of watch. On a scale of 1 to 10, and 10 being the highest, or best, I would give the visual appeal of this watch an 8, the operation and timekeeping specs a 10, the comfort of the watch a 7, and the durability and shock resistance of this watch a 4.5 as I have found it is somewhat fragile compared to other watches in the same category. Without a doubt, I would recommend this watch as it does have a "look appeal" to it and as I said, it's a very accurate Japanese movement and should be a timepiece enjoy for a long time.

I like this watch. I bought one on a hunch specifically for work versus a G-Shock. I would still have the first one except I accidentally ran it over with my car after about a year of having it. That's the only thing that beat it so far. I've had the second one just over a year and it's been through a lot, still runs like a champ. Quite user friendly. The watch itself is quite light in weight. I would not use this as a complete sports watch though, I would call it an active type of watch, for work, riding a bike or hiking, something that wouldn't require free wrist motion or else it will get in the way, as will most wrist watches. The alarms/chimes are loud enough for me, can wake me up and can hear pretty good in loud environments. I have taken the watch down to 15 feet of water and no foggy bezel. The compass is not functional so it is primarily a decoration but it can give you a general idea I guess if you're good with direction. There is a dummy button for you to grasp when settings. The Armitron website does not have exact instructions for this model watch so keep the instructions you get or you will have some trouble as some of there watches come with more and fewer options. For the price you can't go wrong but you shouldn't expect a $100 watch either. This is a great all around watch to have when you don't want to mess up your good watch but still want it to look attractive. As with anything, there are lemons, you could spend $10,000 on a watch and by chance it's faulty, that's a risk you take with anything you purchase. I searched long and hard trying to find a watch with all the functionality that I needed and that looked great. I finally picked this Armitron watch. I was a little hesitant because of the very low $25 price tag, but I have always had good luck with all of my previous Armitrons. When it arrived, I was a little worried because it was much larger than my old Armitron that I was replacing. However, it fits comfortably and it took about 10 minutes to get used to how big it was. I wear this watch everyday and it goes with nearly every apparel. Anything from hiking gear to work clothes. I ALWAYS get compliments on my watch!! I have even had several guys who collect watches ask me what kind of watch I have and where they can get one. They are always surprised when I tell them $25 bucks on Amazon. This just goes to show how elegant this watch is with a very cheap price tag. I have worn this watch everyday for about 8 months now and the watch shows very little signs of wear and tear. There are some minor scratches on the chrome bezel with the compass but it is still shiny and you can only tell when you look at it up close. Being a geek, this watch has all the functionality that I need, and the geekiness of the watch also spills out into the design. In other words, I can geek out every time I look to see what time it is. All in all, I would highly recommend buying this watch. I have even considered buy a replacement for when the one I currently have decides to crap out, which doesn't look it will be for a long time!! Extremely happy with this purchase!!

Took only a couple of days for the watch to arrive. I have had it on for a few hours and still find myself looking at it with a smile. I may just order a second one. I will say that this will not ship with instructions so I will share what I have found. No need to reinvent the wheel. Check notes below. * Look at your watch as if it were a clock face, even though it may be a digital. Most Armitron watches have four buttons around the perimeter of the watch. There will be a button at the 2 o'clock position; this will be button "A." There will also be a button at the 4 o'clock position. Consider this button "B." On the opposite side will be button "C" at the 8 o'clock position and button "D" at 10 o'clock. The first three bullets are in reference to time. * Press the "D" button until the numbers begin to flash on your digital watch. Press and hold the "D" button again until the seconds begin to flash by themselves. Press the "B" button to advance the seconds. You may hold down the button in order to cycle through the numbers faster. * Hold down the "A" button in order to move on to setting the Armitron minutes. Once they begin flashing, press the "B" button just like you did to adjust the seconds. Press the "A" button one more time, and you will see the hours flash on your watch face. Hold down the "B" button and cycle through, making sure the a.m. and p.m. is correct. * Change the date on your Armitron watch by once again pressing the "A" button. This should cause your date to blink. Press the "B" button to change the days. * Cycle through the months by pressing the "A" button one final time and holding down the "B" button. July 6 2013 I took this watch with me to a major water park. Spent all day in the water. I bumped the watch several times on the bottom of pools, and against river walls. Did not have one problem with watch. When I got home, I was surprised to see no scratches. This is one tough watch.

Possibly the greatest inexpensive watch ever made surpassing the Casio Illuminator of the 90s. I bought this exact watch starting in 2003 and wore it as my primary watch(every day) until 2025. It seems that they have stopped making this exact model for whatever reason and now instead of it costing 19.99 to 24.99 depending on the dealer, it is selling for $125 or more on ebay or other sites. If you happen to find it, grab it. Its a junk watch that will still get compliments from people all the time. The battery lasts for 5 full years but the wrist strap will only last 3 to 4 years depending on daily usage(1.5 years if you take it on and off constantly). I wear my watch 24/7 never taking it off and only wear decorative watches when going out at night. If Armitron doesn't bring back this model, I will be sad as their replacement options are terribly designed and far cheaper made between materials and clock face quality. If you are a Gshock lover, this watch is better, trust me.

The watch has all the basic functions. It looks cool from a distance, but if you hold it up close, you can easily guess its price. It's much lighter than what it appears mainly because it's mostly plastic. The biggest deal breaker for me is the dial window. It's not glass but acrylic (I should have read the description more carefully before purchasing it). The dial window is not flat and shiny (like a glass), but rather dull and curvy with an uneven curvature that makes it look even cheaper (sorry). Of course I didn't except a Rado at this price, but I'm disappointed because it looks better in the pictures than it actually is. If you want a really cheap watch that performs the basic functions, and you don't care about the looks, then go for it. It's not going to get you any "wows" though.

The design and feel of the watch is very sporty, looks expensive even if it's cheap. The watch will not disappoint you, just go for it.
