Chinese Architecture: A History

Comprehensive historical catalogue of Chinese architecture
This book is a comprehensive historical catalogue of Chinese architecture arranged in chronological order. All major architecture and its attributes from each dynastic era in Chinese history is covered. Anyone wanting to know how Chinese architecture evolved through the ages will be well-informed by this book. One issue though is I prefer more photographs or illustrations of the buildings and sites mentioned in the book. There isn't enough of them. Also, the arrangement of the chapter could be clarified with clearer sub-headings. A separate chapter/section explaining the major terminology of Chinese architecture for the lay reader would also help as it can become difficult to follow in some chapters.

One of a kind
An excellent survey of the history of Chinese architecture, not perfect but perhaps the only book of its kind in existence - coverage of everything (in brief) from Han underground rock tombs to Song pagodas, and finishing up (of course) with the Forbidden City. Good production values and well illustrated also.
