Q: when I wanna turn off the light I need to pass all 8 modes?

No the 2 different modes cycle separate. It would be 4 pushes from off to off. If you held it for 3 seconds it would be 4 pushes to turn off again.

Q: Can you use regular batteries

It's designed to use any *button-top* 18650, which I didn't realize until after I got it. Since most of my 18650's are flat-top, it was very easy to put a slight bend in the (+) contact to get the flat-tops to work with it.

Q: My charging cable melted where it plugs in to the battery pack. How do I get a replacement cable? Purchased in 10/20

It takes a micro-mini charger where it goes into charge the batteries. I suggest you take the headlamp with you to an electronics store to be sure you get the correct size or buy rechargeable batteries and a charger.
