I was hoping that this rake would work as well as the last one I purchased since that one seems to have been hidden by the cat we use it on. However for some reason this one does not fit my hand as well and thus it doesn't remove the hair as well as it could. OK for some of our animals but not for the wayward cat

This Undercoat Rake is the right size, in my opinion, for combing out the loose undercoat of a long-haired pet, especially like a dog. The back of the packaging says this is suitable for brushing a rabbit, but I've never groomed a rabbit, so I don't know about rabbits.But I do know about Siberian Huskies - I refer to mine as a "hair-growing machine." He is very well-protected from the most inclement cold weather, but overheats in the summer. Huskies, like some other breeds of dogs, have a rough and coarse outer coat, which repels wind and water, and an absolutely amazing "undercoat," which provides insulation. In the summer, they shed ... and shed ... and shed ... and shed. I have pulled plastic shopping bags full of hair out of my Husky at one brushing, only to do the same thing on the next day. These types of dogs definitely need hair ... and hair ... and hair ... brushed out of their coats.This rake has 13 tines, each about 3/4 of an inch long. This is long enough, but not too long, to reach down to the undercoat, and pull the loose hair out. The rake is 6 inches long, fits in my hand comfortably. It has a hard rubber handle with soft rubber gripping "ribs" along the side of the handle. I find this rake easy to grip securely.The pictures of the pets on the packaging of this rake are short-haired cats and dogs, which I would not think this rake would be suitable for. However, it is a "must have" item for a Siberian Husky. The rake seems securely built, which is important to me, because it will be getting a LOT of use.

This product is sturdy and well made. The teeth look like they would be comfortable against a pet's skin. Unfortunately, for my long haired cat and my medium haired dog, it did nothing to remove the hair. Perhaps it would work well on another type of hair type, I don't know.

Perfect for long haired cats!Works amazingly well. Much better than a traditional comb, since the rotating pins cut WAY down on tugging, so it's much easier on the cat. Really like the rake itself but the handle broke off not long after I started using it.

I find this rake a little hard to hold in the position I need in order to use the rake for my cat and dog. But it's sturdy and well made and does work well.

I use this instead of the harsh Furminator, followed up with a slicker brush. Gentle round 'bristles' get the hair out and provides a nice massage at the same time.
