If it fits, it's perfect. If it doesn't fit it might help.
Well, this kind of works for me so I gave it five stars. The reason it only kind of works is that this relies 100% on the lid fitting your jar. If the lid doesn't fit then it is extremely hard to use. In my case the lid is exactly the wrong size. It fits over the top but it won't screw on so with enough elbow grace, you can hold the lid in place and turn the crank and get most of the peanut butter mixed. Because the lid doesn't quite fit the bottom of the wire doesn't reach the bottom of the jar so you miss the last half inch of peanut butter. Even this way though, it's still the easiest way to mix peanut butter that I found. I have tried using one of those handheld mixers but unfortunately peanut butter jars are so full and that trying to get one of those into the peanut butter jar just ends up pushing half the peanut butter out so those do not work for me. In the meantime, this, even though it doesn't fit, still works better than just a spoon. I wish I didn't love the peanut butter that I do that requires mixing.

a better mousetrap!
This is perfectly simple and completely useful and convenient. I used it for the first time today and wonder why I have never found this before. The lid has a hole in the middle - be careful that you get the model for the size jar you want. The company makes several sizes and the only ones that are clearly marked on Amazon are the model 100 and the model 300. They are both for 16oz jars but the lid size varies. There is a gasket that slips over the crank and sit snugly inside the lid. That prevents the peanut butter & oil from bubbling over up through the hole in the lid for the crank. Then there is another plastic sheet that slips over the gasket to protect the lid itself from the worst of the oil & nut butter (I use mine for almond butter). Then just screw on the lid and crank. That is all there is to it. No muss, no fuss. Then when you are done, just lift the crank straight up. The gasket is so snug around it, the remaining nut butter on it is scraped off the crank as it is withdrawn and back into the jar so the crank comes out "clean" (still needs to be washed of course) - there is no mess that comes out with it. I am sure that after a number of uses the gasket will have to be replaced because the hole would have become larger with use and then the nut butter might come squishing out, but I don't know yet how long that will be.

Make sure the right size deep enough jar before buying
I imagine this would work with the right size jar but our small jars with hazelnut butter don't work. Not good for us. I have kept it but doesn't work for us. Decent price but ease of use is not there since our jars are small.

Easier to use than a butter knife
Mixes natural peanut butter quicker and neater than using a butter knife.Would have given 5 stars if the lid actually fit the jar, and the metal stirrer was a bit longer.

Save Your Money -- DOES NOT WORK
I saw this reviewed on America's Test Kitchen and was interested to get one because we buy a lot of almond butter that needs blending and I always get it all over the place. I don't know why America's Test Kitchen was pushing this (very curious) but it's absolutely worthless to us because the essential piece (the jar lid) doesn't fit any of the standard nut butters we use. We've tried it on the Trader Joe's Almond Butter and Teddie's peanut butter -- to no avail. Both of these are popular nut butters requiring mixing. When I say it doesn't fit -- it's way off.The only solution would be to take one of our old covers and drill a hole in it and doctor it so it has a lip -- we're not equipped to do that and I don't care how handy you are, chances are you aren't either and wouldn't be willing to put in the time.Do not waste your money on this thing. And you might want to join me in taking all of these gadget reviews from America's Test Kitchen and considering walking out of the room to make a sandwich or a pit stop. It's a lot of bull. We threw our money away on this thing.

It’s a bleepin’ miracle!
I bought the right size for my chosen brand of peanut butter. (Check! There are several versions with different lid sizes.)OMG! It made quick, efficient, painless and mess-free work of stirring up the peanut butter. I needed this decades (centuries!) ago.

Check the size of your jar cover.
The cover didn't fit. It was too small. Check the size of your lid before you buy it.

Perfect for anyone who likes pure all natural peanut butter.
For a long time I have used pure natural peanut butter which I loved, but I did not love the stirring process to mix the inevitably separated oil. Always difficult, resulting in lots of spills of peanut oil and tired wrists trying to twirl a spoon or fork around the jar. I discovered Grandpa Witmer's XL Old Fashioned Natural Peanut Butter Mixer, and life is so much better! Easy to use, mixes the peanut butter in under a minute and is simple to clean with no spills or loss of peanut butter. Highly recommended.
