Thankfully the plastic on this tank is thick and seems to be pretty durable because the tank blows up like a balloon ...
First, a warning about EPA tanks: EPA really screwed up this time. Rather than reduce emissions they guaranteed gas spills. I have multiple EPA "compliant" tanks and in the heat of summer in the south they build up pressure until gas shoots out all over the boat causing a fire hazard not to mention causing pollution that would not have occurred with the old type tanks. You have to continually press the button to release pressure emitting the same fumes the tanks are supposed to stop. The systems are also supposed to allow air in, but I have had brand new EPA compliant tanks including this one stop allowing air in starving the engine for fuel. I also gave a new 1 of this tank to a friend as a present and he told me he had the same problem with gas shooting out after enough pressure builds up in the summer.Other than the EPA created disaster, the tank itself is well made with the exception of the plastic pickup tube/receptacle for the fuel fitting. I have had to replace it a few times as they tend to split, but at least they are readily available. I just finished throwing an older Attwood tank in the trash can because the pickup tube was not replaceable and I could not find parts to make one that I would be able to trust on the water. Thankfully the plastic on this tank is thick and seems to be pretty durable because the tank blows up like a balloon so far without splitting (I had an older non-Moeller tank that split) and when the pressure valve does not work right have had it suck itself down to a pancake but so far the tank itself has bounced back once the cap was opened to relieve pressure. I do like the angled lower edges on this tank which conform to the angled sides of small boats allowing it to fit better than some other tanks I have had.

Fill cap leaks when I carry it by the handle
but maybe I am just fuel tank impaired.I really like the tank, but the fill cap, (not the vent) will just not seal tight enough for me to carry it by the handle without leaking. The tank is thick, feels solid, it has not bloated on me, and has a thumb screw vent in the fill cap.The outlet rotates (by design), not freely, but you can grab it and twist. It has a fuel gauge, but it does not have any useful marking - so it serves mostly as 'full or empty' indicator. About as useful as one of those plastic globe fishing line floats. If the float disappears from the surface, you know something is on your hook. To get an accurate reading I lift it by the handle and guess the weight. In fairness - I use the tank to feed a generator that powers a small travel trailer in the woods. So YMMV.I like it as a tank, and will continue to use it, the solid feel, the fact that it does not bloat in the sun, and that the vent functions reasonably well, make it useful. But either the cap leaks, or I lack the skill needed to operate it.

Tank is good, the vent cap; not so much..
Like noted in many of the reviews, the EPA approved vent cap on this does not vent unless pressure is very high in tank which leads to the tank blowing up like a balloon and the built up pressure trying to force extra fuel in your outboard. If your fuel line connections are not perfectly sealed, they will piss fuel when under pressure. Luckily, there's a solution; You can by a "Moeller Tempo Manual Vent Gas Cap" (ASIN B00BN67792) that solves the vent problem. It fits perfectly and has a simple manual vent that when open, will not allow a pressure build-up in the tank. It worked like a charm...No more ballooned gas tank on the back of my pontoon boat when the sun hits it.

Good outboard fuel tank
Good gas tank so far. I did have to replace the fuel gauge assembly, which stopped working shortly after I got it. A couple emails to Moeller and a new assembly was in the mail. Customer service at Moeller was great. The vent on the cap works like it should. When I first put it in the boat I open up the vent, press down on it and wait till the pressure equalizes. Its only takes a few seconds. Mine stays in the garage when I'm not using it so pressure build up isn't a huge problem but it still happens. I imagine if you left it out in the sun unvented it would swell up quite a bit but it's made to handle this pressure. Even my current gas can has to be vented in warm/hot weather before I use it to fill my lawn mower just like this gas tank. Not a big deal. You can hate the EPA all you want, this is how tanks are made now.

Nice tank.
I bought this to replace the exact model that was 10 years old. The old one has sat in the California sun its entire life. Old one has some surface cracks that do not leak so I replaced it. Be aware with EPA rules these new tanks do not vent until they hit 5 psi of pressure. They will swell if everything is sealed up good. You can open the fill cap a little to avoid this, but the swelling problem is an EPA thing and not a flaw in these tanks. Simple fuel gauge that will never cloud up. I ordered it thursday afternoon and it arrived the next day with Amazon prime.

Decent for the price
Decent but not a great bargain

If you use Teflon tape it works great with no leaking.
When the tank first came, I screwed in the fuel connector and tightened the rotating fuel outlet fitting. It leaked like crazy and I lost about half a tank of gas in 3 days. Then I read the directions! It states to use Teflon tape sealant on the threads!. I reassembled everything using tape (on both the fitting threads and the outlet fitting threads) and it hasn't leaked a drop since. I bought a second tank and followed the same procedure. It doesn't leak at all either. My guess is reviewers that are suffering from leaking tanks didn't follow directions and didn't use the sealant tape.

Worth the $
In comparing the Moeller tank to others I was concerned that with the low price (in relation to retail stores) and the higher price (in relation to the cheaper on line options out there) that I'd be stuck in non mans land where the quality would be midland at best......not so!! Great product and very sturdy! The only opportunity for improvement I saw was the vent plug wasn't as intuitive as I would have thought (I mean it's a VENT PLUG....how hard can it be???). Apparently there is a little bit of art to it which I'll need to figure out next year as the boat is now in storage for the winter. Anyway, great product, would not hesitate to recommend it!
