American Valve MVB 3/4" Hose Connection Vacuum Breaker

It was a hassle to get the old ones off, but eventually a Dremel with the correct bit worked like a charm to drill out the set screw. I replaced both hose spigots with these and voila! I am no longer soaked every time you turn on or off the water. These do drain through the holes, but not like a giant spray. The original ones literally shot water across the Lanai and into the Pool about 15 feet away! Easy fix, nice quality and great price.

Needed a replacement after mine broke down. It stopped the leak I kept having when I turned my hose on. It works as expected and it is a quality replacement.

Despite not being a vacuum breaker fanboy, I will say that these valves are affordable and have been working fine. I don't like garden spigot vacuum breaker valves, regardless of brand. From my experience they reduce water flow, make plumbing noises, and are prone to failure as they age. But they're required by code in my area. And these valves are probably as good as it gets: solid brass construction, easy installation. The locking screw on the side can be snapped-off after installation to prevent unintended removal. But keep in mind that if you do that it will be very difficult (perhaps impossible) to replace the device when it fails. So I tighten the locking screws but leave them intact. Review summary: Easy installation. Reasonable Price (paid $6.98 Oct 2022).

easy to install, easy to sheer the pin, permanent installation. fit well, no leaks, and while it does decrease the flow a bit, they work as intended.

Price is good value. The bip portion is also flat and will fit your hose nicely with the provided rubber washer for a good seal. So far it is not leaking a drop of water and I'm confident it's going to stay that way. The reverse pressure is also going to push water out instead of back into the water supply. All is good. I recommend this, 5 stars.

Good item, worked as expected. Replaced the older pieces and it solved my leaking problem.

The hose Bibb is a little short for some garden hose nuts so the garden hose nut I have hits the body of the Vacuum breaker before the gasket can seal therefore, you need to add a second seal washer in the garden hose nut to make a seal. Seems the vacuum breaker threads were shortened to reduce the cost because the vacuum breaker I replace was longer and sealed just fine. The threaded area needs to be .060-.090" longer away from the body so all brands of garden hose nuts can seal and the vacuum breaker bleed holes have space to bleed without squirting all over the place. The product works fine but you might find you need a second washer in your garden hose nut if the manufacture does not make a design revision to the product. I added two photos so you can see the problem.

When I first used the vacuum break I thought another government intervention. Well here in Florida it get HOT when your hose is in the sun it will make a hose without a vaccume break burst Now I put them on all my spigots. They were actually to prevent bad or contaminated water from being sucked back into water supply. They are worth it

Works as expected. Seems to be a lot stronger than the plastic one it replaced. Just to note, if the tap is on and a nozzle is on the hose, the vacuum breaker will spray water out when the nozzle is released. It appears to be designed this way. The old plastic one it replaced did as well. It may make a mess if indoors

this unit doesn't restrict the water flow like some of the others do.
