Why does f-f leak so badly. Don't see how washers fix it.

I agree - its a weirdly "slightly out" product - I couldn't be bothered sending it back - won't be buying from these folks again, but made it work using plumbers' pftf tape which seals the joins on the threads but these threads are razor sharp so wear gloves and take care....
