Good and useful Info, but will find out its accuracy after field test.
This book has a lot of good info about the major rivers, directions, access points, flies charts, and the Do's and Don'ts. I will find out more for sure how accurate this book is once I have had a chance to vist MT and fish these rivers this Aug. I think it would be nice to indicate the direction of the river flow on the river maps, you can not tell unless you read and really look for this particular info.I will update my rating after I had fielded test the book, but so far I like it and found it useful.

Great Detail!
You never know what you might get in a fishing book, but this one hit the mark in detail! I was pleasantly surprised at the beautiful color photos, the details on fishing locations, and especially the maps included within the pages. I appreciate the author's (Ben Roman) inclusion of local guides comments and expertise in fishing the various rivers and waterways; these tips are invaluable. Clear, color photos of the many flies, as well as tying details, helps even the most basic fly tier wrap duplicates of these essential flies. Directions to the water's access is a bonus as the author includes route numbers, landmarks, and other identifiers to help you locate some of the best fishing waters. Glad I took a chance and purchased this book, it's worth every penny!

Mandatory book for Montana-bound fly fishers
Excellent, no-nonsense writing and good information on the more high profile places to fish in Montana. I wish I'd had this book 20 years ago when I lived there. Each river, lake, and region includes a list of suggested flies, with accompanying color photos and recipes. A couple of typos are evident, but these are easy to figure out. You can't go wrong with Ben Romans' book as a guide to plan your trip, or learn a bit more about that river over yonder that you've always meant to fish, but never did. Must have for anybody who fishes, or plans to fish, Montana with a fly rod.

Nicely Done
Bought this book for Grandpa after he fell and broke his hip this summer, thinking it might keep his mind off the fact that he was not as mobile as he might have liked to be. He spent his younger years fly fishing most of this great country and so this book was a trip down memory lane for him. The content was informative, the photos excellent and he was kept busy for hours exploring the old haunts of his younger days! Down side is...my husband enjoyed it so much he is now convinced that he wants to start fly fishing!

Montana vacation
My son used this book on our 2013 vacation. He found it informative and easy to follow. Fishing is Montana isn't as easy as the books make it sound. It takes area knowledge and experience to catch the big ones. To find out what flies are working for the time, it's a good idea to stop in at a local fly shop. Those guys all fish regularly and know specifics for the time of year depending on the temperature and water levels.
