This trap caught an opossum and a raccoon successfully. One note is that the exit door has a tiny latch that the raccoon managed to flip and then slid it's paws underneath the sliding door and then got out. Except for the little latch, the trap is well designed. To fix this problem I put a heavy piece of wood on top of the exit door so the animal couldn't flip the little latch and get out. One other simple thing to fix this little flaw in the trap it to use a little piece of wire a little bigger than a twisty tie to really latch the exit door shut. I used this trap to live catch and release (miles away in the woods) raccoon pests around my house and just happened to catch an opossum as well.

It is very easy to set the trap so no instructions are needed
This item arrived ahead of schedule. It is very easy to set the trap so no instructions are needed. My only gripe is that it arrived damaged in shipping (one side of the cage was bent) but still in good enough shape to be used. I bought a similar trap for my father for Christmas and it is a humane way to trap rabbits, opossums, and other critters and relocate them to another environment.

effective
Worked just as advertised...except it caught all squirrels & no groundhog. The only flaw - as described by others - is that the "exit door" latch is flimsy & releases easily, leading one squirrel to raise the door open himself. Luckily, he couldn't raise the door & get out at the same time. As another customer said, just attach the latch or the door with a simple "twist tie" from supermarket produce & the door will stay in place just fine.

I like it, raccoons hate it...
Well built, great price and it works! Sometimes a no-name knock-off gives you more than you paid for...this is one of those times.

Very nice trap but the trip pad and rod could be a little more heavy duty. The first coon i caught chewed the trip pad like tin foil, had to make a new one as well as the trip rod.

I caught the groundhog but l was on my way to work, so l left it in the cage in the backyard. By the time l came home that evening the groundhog escaped from the cage. It broke the cage so l was no longer able to use it again.....

This trap has been amazing for capturing possums
This trap has been amazing for capturing possums. No more dead chickens! The only downside is that it's huge and doesn't fold up.
