Helpful for Rotation Diets
My doctor recommended a rotation diet so I'm using this book as a guide to developing my own plan. Some of the material in it seems a little outdated (published in 2007), but the value of the author's knowledge base, her experience, tips, advice & her excellent writing make it a worthwhile read & reference book. I especially like the brief historic overview of various allergy testing methods & treatments for food allergies. I got my used copy for $10 which I consider a real bargain. I would recommend this for anyone with multiple food allergies.

For people with SEVERE Food Allergies
I have to say...this book is AMAZING. I can understand the people who get it an say that the food in here is too "exotic" or you have to be a "chef" to make them. But you have to understand...this is not a book for someone with 1 or 2 food allergies. This is for someone who has an overwhelming amount of food allergies and wants to keep from developing more, while possibly helping to heal their gut. I won't go into my full list of food allergies, but some they include are:Gluten, Dairy, Soy, Tree Nuts, Peanuts, Rice, Corn, Black Pepper, Onions, Tomatoes, Spinach, Garlic, Pork, Beef, Shrimp, etc, etc, etc....I have over 40 severe food allergies...and keep developing new ones. So, with that in mind, I bought this book. I will be starting my rotation diet on February 1st...hopefully keeping myself from getting any worse...and hopefully getting better! And yes, there are extremely exotic foods listed...(i.e., lion, boar, kangaroo, etc)...but again, sometimes, that is the only meat you can eat. But there are also a TON of "regular" meats listed. This just gives options you would not have otherwise considered...So, if you truly have severe food allergies, please do not let the reviews scare you. This book is amazingly easy to read and understand, and will be super useful in the future. I don't know how many of the recipes I can/will try, but the listing of food families and what those food families contain are invaluable. I am sure this will become a major "go to" in my journey to get better.03/25/2014 Update - I used this meal plan for all of February. I really felt much better when I was on it. It is a TON of work...it is not EASY. But it is worth it. Due to going out of town and a few other issues, I haven't been on it for most of March...but will be starting it again in a few days. I really do think this book is worth it and makes a huge difference. Not to mention that fact that I get a LOT more variety in my diet when I am using this book...otherwise I will eat the same thing all day every day...and get more and more frustrated. I still HIGHLY recommend this book for people with multiple food allergies.

Allergy Elimination
Having had severe food allergies all my life, the book offered some useful tips. For example, how to make your own yogurt, to have intestine tests done, a description of the rotation diet, etc. I found the recipes not very inspiring. I was also disappointed that no reference was made to the non traditional allergy elimination technique of NAET. Although NAET is not an absolute cure either, it can eliminate some of the allergies. A good book for someone that has not studied and explored all about allergies yet.

Need Direction ... This Is It!
This book is a lifesaver and will be for those of us with multiple food allergies. I’m allergic to gluten, grains, tree nuts, coconut, dairy, plus, which eliminates quite a few foods. I purchased this book to learn about rotation diets, in an effort to treat a recent eczema exacerbation. I’m so thankful I did! It is the most comprehensive user oriented, practical book on food allergies I’ve seen; and I’ve ordered several other books, and returned a few. I reference the book on a daily basis, and it is my food bible. The recipes and their variations in this book cater to all grain circumstances. If you have grain, dairy sensitivities you know the misery of not being able to have baked goods. I made the buckwheat, dairy free, grain free waffles and savored every forkful; though hard and tasteless for most palates, they were like heaven for me! I wish there were more allergy references/cookbooks like this! The book enabled me to create my personal food rotation, and explore foods I never would have eaten before, like buffalo, kale, chard, … The list of food groups, along with the various recipes are well worth it for someone looking for food allergy/sensitivity direction. I give it 5 stars +. I’d be lost without it.

I use this book all the time for breads/grains/pancakes
I have looked all over for allergy cookbooks without much success except for Nicolette Dumke's books. I use this book all the time for baking/breads/desserts.My seven year old daughter has multiple food allergies but gets shots that allow her to eat a core set of foods. However, there are still many foods that she can't eat. She actually can't eat many of the alternative foods used in the book, but can eat enough grains that I can use this book to give her some baked goods without yeast, baking powder, or eggs. The recipes are easy to modify slightly to fit other needs even for those of us who don't consider ourselves "good" cooks. I make the pancake and muffin recipes often and use the pancakes for "sandwich" bread since they are so much less crumbly than other non-yeast breads. We even tried a modified version of the almost-normal German Chocolate Cake, which she liked quite a lot. I put chopped peaches in the barley muffins (made with butter because we can't use oils) and they taste a lot like peach cobbler. Yum. Even her classmates like these muffins. If you are hungry for something made with grains, this book has recipes that work!

This book is outstanding
Food intolerance or allergy is a complex business. This book explains how to cope with both. Most people might think that intollerances are dealt with by simply removing that food from diet, but that can cause lack of nutrients and cause you to become intollerant to the replacement foods. The book explains how to manage your diet to1. avoid foods that are not tollerated2. maintain a good diet meeting nutritional needs3. recover against some intollerances4. manage your diet without worrying too much about what to eat5. avoid becoming intollerant to new foods6. recover your health from a food intollerance situtionThe management is difficult but the rewards are great. Many recipes & practical helpful advice and resourses. No other book is so useful on this topic.

Too technical for me
This is an extremely detailed book and covers the subject in great depth. However, it was far too technical for what I wanted and the recipes were not everyday fare - so I returned it.

Very useful
This book will help with food allergies and intolerance, especially if you like cooking. I wish it was a British edition and I had the patience to use all the ingredients.
