Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess's Stardust: Being a Romance Within the Realms of Faerie

An Adult Fairy Tale
My love affair with Neil Gaiman continues.Tristran Thorn lives in the village of Wall. A very special town that holds a very special market every nine years through the gap in the town’s wall. A market that brings villagers, strangers, and the people who live beyond the wall together. Tristran has never been allowed to go to the market, but when he promises his one true love that he will retrieve a falling star that landed beyond the wall as proof of his devotion, he soon discovers a world that is beyond his imaginings. This story is filled with all the wonder, magic, and danger you expect from a fairy tale. I loved every written word. This story satisfies the part of me that still lives believes that magic is real, that fairies exist, and monsters are always lurking nearby. Neil Gaiman has become one of my favorite authors. I struggle between devouring the book, or reading it slowly to savor every morsel.Originally published as a series of graphic novels for DC, Stardust has been been released in a text only novel, made into a movie, and also released in this gorgeously illustrated novel.I opted to listen to the audiobook (narrated by Neil, himself) while I followed along with the book. I love when the author narrates the book; you get their full intention for their story. Between Neil’s narration and Charles Vess’s illustrations, this story literally jumps off the page. Once the story finishes, there’s a wonderful interview done with Neil, and lots of notes and images about the writing and illustration process in the illustrated book.Kindle Unlimited members can currently download the illustrated edition as part of their membership.

Great fun
I loved the illustrated version of this book! The story is wonderful, and the pictures help both the pacing (helps slow me down) and also adds to the fairy-tale charm of Neil Gaiman's writings. I highly recommend this story (and the movie based on the book is also great!).

I bought this gift for my fiance and he loved it! I accidently lost his copy of Stardust which was just a standard book. He was pleasantly surprised to see the graphic illustrations

A Beautiful Edition.
This is a beautiful edition of one of my husband's favorite graphic novels. Charles Vess's illustrations are exquisite. Neil Gaiman's storytelling is wonderful. This would make an excellent gift for a teen reader. I would recommend this to a friend.

One of the most astonishing Fantasy books
Definitely recommended for each one of you who wants to relive true fantasy and a world full of magic. We often forget that magic comes with uncertainty, whenever magic is introduced in a book nobody can be certain of the things that might happen in te story. And this is what Neil Gaiman did in this book, he completely blowed my mind by doing things which are totally beyond this world. Through this book he took magic and magical beings to a whole new level.

Gorgeous book with fantastic illustrations
This is a larger copy of Gaiman's novel that is approximately A4 size. I purchased this edition is because it is illustrated and will make a fantastic addition to my book collection. The artwork is gorgeous and the plot is, of course, nothing less than you would expect from Neil Gaiman, who is a master of crafting worlds beyond the "walls" of our daily existence.
