I love these.
I absolutely love these grow bags. They worked perfectly, are easy to move around as needed, and they were a great price! We currently have an apartment with 4 balconies and needed an option to start a small vegetable crop, all while having the ability to move things around as needed. These grow bags were the perfect solution. They are very easy to move around thanks to the built in handles and they have held up well in both full sun and partial sun conditions. When we first planted we read a tip to just water the outside of the bag as well and the soil on top, this provide a nice lengthy period of moist soil for our plants to get established. I think anyone who loves gardening should definitely have at least a few of these on hand for any changing situations that may arise.

Cost effective alternative to hard-shell pots
The right balance of depth and width. Handles are strong enough. CAUTION: It is porous and black so moisture dissipates faster than hard-shelled pots. Water more frequently.

Well-made
They are big, well-made, and easy to use. I started using fabric grow bags last summer, and found that the plant’s roots really love them. They will fill all the space up. They never get over-watered. It’s important to make sure the soil is good quality, so it will retain moisture and nutrients. You should do this regardless of where you place plants, but fabric grow bags need it more. The fabric lets the roots have more oxygen, but it also lets any additional water drain out that isn’t held in by the soil. Liquid fertilizers will wash out faster, especially if there’s a heavy rain. For certain plants that are root-heavy, they will eat up all the soil, leaving less to retain water and fertilizer. These are plenty big if you want to add more soil as they grow, if necessary. The sides are tall enough to provide a little protection for small plants. For some, I fold them down to let more heat/light in, and unfold them as they grow taller. The fabric is sturdy, but if you don’t fill up the bag with soil, and don’t fold down the sides, they can shift inwards. They are still only fabric, so treat them accordingly and it won’t be a problem. I have occasionally stuck bamboo sticks in them to stabilize the plants, but also to buttress the soft-bodied sides of the bags until the plants a large enough to clear them. If a plant gets big enough, the sides being soft can be an advantage. For instance, I grew yellow summer squash, and eventually it became so large that it wanted to lay down some, and that put the thick stalk laying on the side of the bag. In a hard-bodied pot, this would have broken the stalk. With the bag, I just made sure the side was folded inward to block the soil, and let the squash do what it wanted. Happy, productive squash plant! At the end of the season, I empty the bags and give them a strong washing with the hose. We have a humid climate and they will grow algae and moss on the outside, just as easy as they help roots grow on the inside. I haven’t used them to grow anything large enough for a transfer elsewhere, but if that was your purpose, you can cut the bag to remove it, or cut it strategically to allow the rootball to grow past it, and leave the bag partially in place to decompose in the ground.

Good product
These helped me to get my tomatoes into a bigger container of soil before they outgrew the old. One bag did rip in the bottom when I moved it but the others held together fine. They drain almost too well, it’s HOT here so I have to water daily to keep the soil moist.

Ok so I have raised beds and grow bags. My grow bags plant are so much healthier than the raised beds. These help the roots breathe and avoid root rot! I have bought several brands. These are great. I love the different size options. Easy to move around on my own. Love the nice sturdy handles.
