Rupen's Saag - Indian Spinach Curry Sauce, Vegan & Gluten-Free 10oz

We've been fans of Rupen since we took a cooking class with him in DC. His early products were great, so I was glad to see the line of sauces. They are expensive, so it took a while to buy. A sale on the saag and masala inspired me to order. This is good stuff--vegan, tasty, and easy to use. Sure, we can cook it ourselves, but there are times we want food fast, but we live in a rural area without delivery or decent take out options. One night we used this with a bag of frozen mixed veggies. Another time with roasted white potatoes. Quick, simple, tasty and lickity quick! I won't pay full price, but I'll buy repeatedly when on sale.

I love how flavorful and light this was. I look forward to incorporating this into our dinner rotation. My family has become a big fan of Rupen's! I am glad to see it in my local Whole Foods now.

Good taste, needs more spices!

I have tasted many Indian Saag, in restaurants as well as store bought but this is one of the best. It's delicious and easy to prepare, once I had it without adding anything else and the other time I had it with chicken and some other vegetables. Both times it came out very well. I specially like the tangy flavor which makes it extra yummy, very similar to how my mom made it. It's not very spicy and easy to mix with other ingredients or eaten as is. The best part is the ingredients seem all natural and healthy, no artificial chemicals or preservatives, just regular natural spices.

It’s okay. I was looking for a quick spinach curry base instead of making it from scratch but honestly, it doesn’t taste nearly as good but it’s about 8 times the price. It tasted kinda of sour. Not terrible but definitely not worth the price.

We have tried several different brands of Indian sauces to make at home, and Rupen's is head and shoulders above the rest. The saag sauce is easy to use with a variety of foods, is easy to make and richly flavorful. Thank you, Rupen!

Rupen's Saag Curry Sauce is a tangy and tart spinach sauce that can pair beautifully with chicken or vegetables. You just need to heat two tablespoons of oil in a saucepan, add 1 pound of either vegetables or chicken, cook for 10 minutes, add the entire contents of the jar, cook for an additional 10 minutes and you have dinner ready. The green sauce has a smooth, velvety texture and a bright tangy flavor. I used 1 pound of boneless skinless chicken thighs to pair with the sauce. I will admit that I enjoy eating Indian food but I am definitely not an expert when it comes to confirming if the sauce has an authentic flavor. I will note that it has a noticeably more tart flavor than the saag curry that I have previously tasted at the local Indian restaurant. I found that it was delicious with a side of plain white rice which helped softened the tangy and tart flavor. Also, despite the inclusion of jalapeno peppers, it wasn't spicy as my non-spicy food loving family was able to eat and enjoy tonight's dinner. The ingredients are clean and recognizable. They include spinach, water, onion, canola oil, lime juice, salt, jalapeno peppers, ginger, garlic, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, citric acid, and natural gum. There are no artificial colors or artificial preservatives included in this sauce. It is a vegan sauce. There are about 2 1/2 servings per container. There are 110 calories, 9g Total Fat, 6g Total Carbohydrates, and 2g Protein in a 1/2 cup serving. When it comes to price, it is on the higher side considering the size of the jar, however, it is a convenient option for a one pot meal made in 20 minutes using incredibly clean ingredients. So it really is up to you. If you are a fan of tart/sour flavors this sauce will be right up your alley.

This sauce was delicious! I cooked some chicken breasts and added this sauce and it was amazing. I will definitely be using it again.
