If you watch so-called "reality" TV shows, you should read this!
This is a fantastic book!Cork Graham fearlessly blows the lid off of the reckless and fraudulent practices that are behind The Discovery Channel's "reality" shows. You can surf Facebook, and the web, and find accounts from former "reality" show stars about how The Discovery Channel is playing it fast and loose with safety rules and manufacturing drama in order to get the big ratings and advertising money they openly lust over. Cork has given us a carefully documented account over the absolute garbage he witnessed and physical abuse he endured in order to be a part of what he began believing was going to be a true TV show about a genuine treasure hunt and isn't shy about sharing his disappointment and anger in finding out what it really was. Just wait until you read about what really happened!

Mixed Emotions
This book reminded me of when I found out that Santa Claus wasn't real. I was sad and disappointed that my hopes had been placed in an illusion and yet, at the same time, poignantly relieved to know the truth. Having been, for years, an avid fan of "Curse of Oak Island", I was thrilled that "Treasure Quest" offered adventure and intrigue, unlike "Curse". My husband even watched it with me! It flowed like a script...I was never fond of Jeremy, met too many like him in my life. But any successful show needs an antagonist. Jeremy is what is referred to as the "road rage" type. These types are who you need background checks for. And I agree with Cork that we, the viewer, could never figure out why he was on the show. I felt a kinship to Cappy, the usually level headed one, although he was way over the top mellow dramatic with all his talk of curses, etc...I was really relieved when Brian didn't return for season 2, and I think Meghan served the male audience well as the eye candy. I'm certain that every time her little bottom floated up when she dove or when she dressed in her tight wetsuit as the men eagerly looked on was perfectly planned. And Cork seemed pleasant enough, a thoughtful leader, but I had no real opinion about Cork. Until I read this book. The whole reason for its composition, as far as I can tell, is because Jeremy gave him a shiner and Brett tried to break up the altercation, holding Cork back, much to Cork's consternation. It was likely reported to Discovery who just as likely did nothing and thus the genesis of this tell all piece for enquiring minds like mine. But, really, the book could have been a more effective booklet, in my opinion. The writing desperately needs editing, as the grammatical and spelling errors are in abundance. Nevertheless, if you can wade through the tons of hyperbole, :), and too much personal backstory, the juicy nuggets hidden in between, about this show in particular and Discovery Communications, make the story tantalizing enough to not regret the 6.99 I paid for it. I do believe that much of it is true, pertaining to Treasure Quest anyway, as anything that seems too good to be true usually is. For that reason alone I have ceased watching Treasure Quest altogether. If there's really no Wizard of Oz, just level with me up front. I will respect you for that and continue to watch. That being said, I am still hanging on to "Curse of Oak Island". 1. Because I have too much time invested at this point and, 2. Because there's no way that any producer worth his/her salt would script such a bad plot. Besides that, I'm holding out for something to be dredged up, planted by the producers or not, that is not iron, clothing, or WOOD!

Reality Documentaries are faked.
Got this as an eBook in September of last year and read it the same day.Now I am re-reading it again today.I think I am getting even more out of the story on this reading.Cork can walk the walk. His history is solid and true. Plus his writing style is smart and vibrant. If you are interested, in the joke of ’Reality Documentaries’ and how these fakes make huge monies for the companies who run these TV channels, you need this read.

Not worth the paper it’s written on
This book is a fiction account that is embellished to make it seem as non-fiction by the author accounts.

One of the most significant Exposes about TV since the great game show scandal of the 50's
This book blows the doors of the criminal like behavior of modern TV networks and the Corporate Execs who run them like private mafias. It covers so many things, with so many outrageous facts, it is a wonder the FCC doesn't pull their licenses for false advertising and the people don't file class action lawsuits for intentional misrepresentations. One is left wondering, how many folks have died due to their negligence and how many more will die before they are held accountable.

Shocking and much welcomed information
I just now put down this book to write the review, 100 pages deep. Having watched all these shows and being familiar with all these people/characters, I am truly shocked, but not entirely surprised by the reality behind what goes on with "Reality" shows on Discovery. This is a great read.

Pure trash.
Amazon doesn’t like my two row. But this “book” is terrible. Do not buy it.

Not perfect but definately worth a read.
Books like this rarely live up to any hype. This one has so far. Eye opening revelations! Granted it does wander off topic a bit but in an insightful way. The reason for a 4 star only review is due to there being a lot of spelling mistakes in the book. 1 or 2 can be forgivable but there has is a lot more than that and some did cause sentances to not make sense. But still is a good read.
