My advice, install this gasket while your smoker is still brand new out of the box. Either that, or don't use the self adhering tape. Jut turn it over and use some high heat silicone gasket sealant to mount it with. In either case, the surface you mount it to MUST be clean. So, if you're working with a smoker that's been around a while, you have some scrubbing to do.This gasket is top quality. I would not use it on a regular BBQ pit that get really hot. But, it's great for a smoker that generally doesn't get over 300 degrees. It is thick, dense and uniform. I only needed one coil to seal my Char-Griller full size grill-smoker. Before, it leaked everywhere and was really hard to regulate, using a lot of wood. Now, it still leaks (the lid just wasn't designed to be air tight). But, not near as much and everything works much, much better.

To start with I cleaned the areas very well, applied easily, nice thickness...why I bought it. Came off on the first cook after applying, which was approximately at least 1 month. NOT HAPPY!

So, obviously your gasket needs replaced and if you own a Big Green Egg, you want the product that is going to fit perfectly and you're willing to buy OEM if you have to... I was there.. Way too many options to look at, which makes the process hard to narrow down. I landed on this one and I have no regrets. You get enough to line the base, the lid, and the cap, with extra to spare.Don't be like me, needing a replacement basket for nearly a year, but dealing with the current one because the process of finding the perfect replacement takes too much effort.

I am very impressed with how well this gasket adheres to the lid of the grill. The density of the gasket is excellent for preventing smoke from escaping through the edges of the lid on the Traeger grills. I added a washer under the screws of the lid hinges to help off-set the thickness of gasket, and the lid seal is absolutely perfect.No more smoke leaks or temperature swings. This product is an A+

I bought this gasket for a Traeger smoker to seal the lid. It was perfect for what I needed. It completely seals now when you close the lid with no smoke leaking anywhere around it. The thickness was perfect and the adhesive attached with no problem. It was very easy to install. I would definitely buy it again for my next smoker or grill.
