Be Careful - Accident Waiting to Happen
Updated 09/17/2014 - improved to 3 stars based on seller making it rightThe company did apologize, explained the defect and sent me a second pair of rings for free. They also refunded my original purchase. That is good customer service. The second set of rings do work, but as other reviewers have stated, these straps will stretch and require periodic adjustment. If you are looking at these for casual hammock use <1 hr then consider them. If you are looking for a backcountry set of straps to keep you suspended while sleeping in the outdoors, overnight, you may want to look elsewhere.Original Review:I purchased these to go with a small travel hammock for backpacking...I weigh 180lbs and both rings pulled cleanly apart leaving me on the ground. This means both rings were supporting weight. Well under the stated capacity. I believe Amazon should review whether to continue selling this item. The intended use for these was on a backpacking trip. Serious injury to my back in the remote wilderness is not prescribed. Always test your gear first, glad I did. It failed!

Mixed Feelings
These may be acceptable for anyone weighing less than 200 pounds. I don't, so in my case I had disappointing results. A few hours into my sleep, my butt was on the ground. The straps stretched. I tightened them even more and in the morning, my butt was on the ground again. As you can imagine, it was not an ideal situation so I tightened them again!Went for a hike, and when I returned 3 hours later, they shrank again and my hammock was so tight that I was concerned it would rip.Like I said, for me they flexed too much. For someone under 200 pounds, you might not have the same unfortunate experience.

It does the job
I am a novice hammocker so I may just not be familiar with how to use these straps.. But from my experience, it is much easier to get tree straps which have knots along them or something to allow for different hanging lengths. These straps have nothing so I have to get creative when I'm trying to hang my hammock at different lengths. However, being a poor colleges student, finding cheap straps was a priority and if I had to buy straps again, I would probably still buy these.

Good fit for my swing
This set of hammock tree straps were not for a hammock but for a swing I wanted to put on a heavy tree branch. I did not want to damage the tree with the regular chains that came with the swing so I rigged these two straps by wrapping them several times around the tree branch and then clipped the hooks thru the chain loop. It worked perfectly for my grandkids. Served my purpose very well. Will remove them for the winter. The straps are very sturdy and the hooks are the perfect size.

Do not buy!
Ok, so first off let me start by saying I bought the straps with the hopes of having a good weekend camping trip with my hammock. After putting the straps around the tree and sitting in the hammock to check for heighth the ring snaped and I hit the ground hard enough to take my breath away. Now they say the straps can hold up to 400 lbs but I am only 200lbs and the ring snapped. Now with straps you expect a little streching of them but not much well I had to get up at 4 in the morning and hold a flash light while I tightened them to the tree again because insted of hanging in my hammock I was laying on the ground. Then when I woke up at 7 am I was on the ground again and I tightend them again and left for a few hours to do a hike. I got back and the straps were so tight I thought the hammock would rip and you had to be a contortionist in order to get into it. I will say this again, do not buy this product and spend your money on something else becasue these things are not worh it.

Product is as advertised although.......
This product is as advertised although the straps do stretch a bit. I found the trick is to find two trees that are close enough so when you wrap the straps around each tree and hook up your hammock, the hammock is stretched fairly tight and there is little strap not wrapped around the trees. This way you have minimal stretching. The hammock type that I refer to is a rope hammock which also stretches.

Very durable and convenient
Out of the bag and ten minutes later, I am rocking on my favorite hammock between two trees!Very easy to wrap around a tree trunk. There is plenty of length to each of these that I could wrap twice around a 12-inch tree trunk. The hardware are nickle plated and haven't rusted so far.Plan to take them on vacation.

Works good when finally in place.
The straps work but unfortunately not every tree is the same size. It was hard for me to get the straps wrapped correctly with the carabiner in the right position and also get it wrapped high enough that my hammock did not stretch and drag the ground. After getting the straps positioned correctly they worked great.
