Five stars
I first came across this book in a local library. I wound up purchasing this book to gift to someone and their child. As a jazz fan, I really enjoyed reading it and I hope they do too.

Must have book!!
Awesome book to celebrate our black communities and understand the important roles these ancestors played in shaping our story. As a Harlem resident, I feel proud to pass this to my kids and teach them to embrace our history and neighborhood

Exceptional illustrations!
Simply a wonderful overview of some of the personalities of the Harlem Renaissance, with bright, cheerful illustrations to engage children. Highlighting only the most non-controversial aspects from the lives of these creative black people, this book dwells on the positive, which is as it should be, in order to inspire kids to learn more.Love the illustrations! Love the mini-bios at the back. More books like this, please!
