Darn Tough Tactical Boot Extra Cushion Socks (T4033) Unisex

TK4033 are all I wear here in the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York. With lows of -30 and highs of 95 they perform in all weather. They breath, they wick, and they don’t have an annoying seam by the toes. They don’t slip down to your ankles and crumple up beneath the arch of your feet over time like some el cheapos. And most important to me - the full cushion. It makes them super thick and soft and very comfortable to wear. What more do you want from a sock? I can work long hours in these comfortably and have had many great times hiking in these socks. But I don’t “hike in socks” I wear boots. Since my first purchase in 2019, I’ve bought about 8 more pair of these and still wear all of them. I’ll never go back to anything less than full cushion wool socks. There’s nothing like having reliable high quality gear that I can rely on and I’ll continue supporting Darn Tough because they make them tough and they make them in America. 🧦 🇺🇸

Having bought & used Merino Wool socks from L L Bean for over a decade and a half, I grew frustrated at how quickly they wore out. To make them last longer, I spent about 5 years felting new wool into the areas of the heel & the ball of the foot. In 2019 I decided to look elsewhere. Darn Tough Vermont Socks were a real find. In particular for snowy & cold New England winters, their #4033 socks with extra cushion, are warmer, & longer lasting than those mentioned above. Longer lasting is very true since all of Darn Tough’s socks have a life time warranty! It is a bit ironic that I’ve lived in New England for many years yet had not heard about this company. For the same money per pair as the socks from L L Bean, I no longer have to purchase a pair or 2 each year to stay ahead of them wearing out, or spend an hour or two each Fall felting extra wool into the worn areas, so I could get an extra year or two out of each pair. I’ve now worn the Darn Tough Vermont socks for 2 winters with full satisfaction. Before I write reviews on products like these, I use them for an extended period. The first flush of amazement & giving 5 star review immediately, cannot give a balanced & tested review, at least in my opinion. For cold days during late Fall & early Spring I’ve found Darn Tough’s #1982 socks to be just as comfortable, warm enough, & just as satisfactory. An added benefit is that the socks are made here in the USA, in Vermont. This gives employment to many, & keeps the money spent, within our economy!

Hiked over 1000km with these socks and they barely showed any wear

I have a new pair of hiking boots that was giving me a slight hot spot on the heel and I felt a thicker sock would fix the problem. So, I first purchased Darn Tough's mid-weight full cushion boot socks. The mid-weight socks worked but were a little thinner than I expected. I then looked at these heavy-weight tactical boot socks from Darn Tough and was wondering if there would be much difference for the added cost. The tactical socks are much thicker than the mid-weight pair and was more of what I was expecting when I purchased the mid-weight socks. The tactical socks are warmer as well and might be too much thickness for a summer backpacking trip but will work well in cooler weather or when you are carrying a heavy pack in rough terrain. In summer with a lighter pack I think I would use the mid-weight socks instead. I recommend Darn Tough wool socks. I am sensitive to wool, but these merino wool socks do not irritate my skin even after a long days hike. You do not feel the toe seams and the socks stay in place so you don't develop hot spots on your feet from the socks bunching up on a hard backpacking day.

good sock ...not as warm as i hoped

A Christmas gift for my son-in-law but my son owns 4 pairs and wouldn't but any other brands. Socks are a little pricey but will outlast any other socks. Good quality!!

Great socks - super comfy. Not cheap but worth the money. I wear RedWing high lace up steel caps and fold the sock down over the laces to keep the knot and top laces clean.

Perfect sock for being on your feet for the day. Darn Tough has amazing quality (and guaranteed for life). The full cushion makes a huge difference for all day comfort in boots. Given that it is thicker, full cushion, it does get warmer than other DT socks. Not unbearable and worth it for the comfort of long hikes in boots.
