Super sturdy, quality, smooth shelf - makes a rack way more useful
Solid construction, quality feel. Can support a lot of weight. I've had one for 14 years and just added a few more. The slide is smooth, but has just enough friction that stopping it in the middle of its travel is still usable. The locking is invaluable for a traveling rack case or one that gets rolled around a lot. Not really needed for a stationary rack. Also nice is the option to mount to your rack case without having rear rails, or to use the included brackets to extend back to your rear rails if available. If the weight isn't too much you probably don't even need to secure the rear of it (like for a MIDI controller or small sequencer). Also has a nice 14" available space once extended fully. To go further than that, one would need to look at a computer sliding shelf that requires a rear rack mount. It is pricey, but if that's the price to get quality, it's worth it. It makes a rack into studio furniture, with a nice surface for anything you need - mixers, small keyboards, drum machines, MIDI controllers, even a laptop if needed. My only negative is actually the fact that the shelf mechanism itself takes up a full rack unit - this usually doesn't matter, but there are other, weaker designs that are just a wooden shelf with no front/back to them, and no mechanism underneath - if you wanted to stack low profile items close to each other on sliding racks, then those might save some space, since the rack space used by the shelf is available for clearance of gear mounted on the shelf below it. In practice so far for me though, everything fits just right - having a half inch extra clearance would not help me move any of my lower shelves up at all.

Sturdy but Heavy!
This is solid and well constructed, fit perfect in my Grundorf 8 Space Rack. Personally I don't like the extra weight it is adding. I almost would prefer a more cheaply built one to reduce the weight. I only have a power strip, this shelf and my mixer mounted on the shelf and it is significantly heavy. The latch works well and will lock it into place if you have it fully extended. I also thought it would be nice if there was some way you could lock it into place at different extensions, that would be handy in some situations for me anyway.

Better then expected
Very well built. Was able to flip the side brackets for the back rails to accommodate at mounting distance of only 10" between front and back rails. Very happy it worked.

Best sliding shelf in my opinion
Best sliding shelf in my opinion. You HAVE to have rear support, in any application in order for any sliding shelf to work properly...
