for such a reasonable price, it's a pretty damn good printer
Like half the kids in my dorm, I got this printer for free with my new macbook pro. i had read the reviews and was expecting a half-baked printer that malfunctioned most of the time, but so far i have been pleasantly surprised. I initially plugged in the printer, connected it to my mac, and have had no problems since. i have been able to print consistently, scan and copy things easily and have had almost no problems with the printer. one thing that i noticed with this printer (as well as most printers) is that using the button on the printer itself to scan does nothing. you have to open up a scanning program (not a big hassle) and use the software on the computer. I've now had the printer for about 9 months, and have done B&W/color printing, copying and scanning. i am fairly impressed with speed and quality (especially for the price tag), and have had no problems with reliability as others have complained about. i ate through my first print cartridges fairly quickly, but got the extra large capacity replacements, and noticed a significant difference. the only potential problem with the printer is that it is loud when printing. i have woken up my roommate a few times when i print papers in the middle of the night (he rolls over and goes back to bed), and it makes 'interesting' noises every once and a while, but nothing is wrong, it just makes funky noises. it would've been nice if I didnt have to pull down the front tray and extend the plastic "arm" to grab papers every time i print something (otherwise the papers just slide off and fall all over desk, but that's a minor inconvenience at most, and if i had more room, i'd just leave the arm extended all of the time. all in all, it's a damn good printer for a 100 bucks, and with features usually indicative of a much more expensive printer. i cant really see any reason to complain. just wanted to note that this DOES NOT COME WITH A USB CABLE. like many printers nowadays, it uses a generic usb connector, and requires you to buy separately a usb cable. I already had one from a portable hard drive, but i bought one as well. about $5, and as long as you know to buy one, it's not a big deal, and not really a valid thing to complain about, since that's how most companies do it.

Great All in 1, especially for the price
I guess some ppl just have better luck than others. I bought this as a "extra" printer for our family room as my wife and I have our laptops down there and the desktop is attached to a Epson RX600 all the way upstairs. From opening the box until I was printing took less than 5 minutes. I've had this for about two weeks and have actually had to put it through it's paces with printing a large volume of paperwork back to back and have had no problem. The paper collates properly and is fairly speedy in print speed for a $90.00 printer. Scan function along with the copy function is flawless and the color management for printing photos is very well managed. I also appreciate that if I need to grab a sheet as soon as it's been printed I can with out having the ink smudge. This applies to black and white or a full color picture. In my opinion, as long as you have luck like mine ( :-) ) you won't be disappointed.

OK printer for the price
I was looking for a simple printer/scanner/copier for my daughter to take to school. I wanted something reliable without tons of menus or complications. It can also read and print directly from several types of memory cards. So far this printer fits the bill - does everything simply at a decent price. I also bought one for my nephew. The print output looks good and is quick enough for individual use. Simple copying is easy - push one button for B&W or one for color. I don't know how well it will last, as we just started using it. Downside - There is no separate output tray, so it is easy for printed papers to spit into the paper tray and get jumbled and possibly cause a jam. If you want to walk away during a large print job, this is not the printer for you. Also, the inks are very expensive. A set of ink cartridges (large capacity) cost almost as much as the printer. True photo quality prints also require a different ink cartridge.

The HP Photosmart C4280 has great features
What I like most about it is the easy way it allows me to do double sided printing. Saves a lot of paper. This is a feature that many printers don't seem to have. Buyers should be aware that they will need a USB cable to connect the printer to their computer, and this may or may not be in the box. Make sure you have this before you begin the set up process. Also be aware that the software on the CD that comes with the printer will not work with Windows 7, 8, or 10. For those OS s you will need to go to HP's website to download the appropriate drivers.

bad printer
I need someone to get back to me about this product. I have had several companys try to connect this printer to my computer & it seems to have an internal failure. I have asked for help from the seller & are being told the 60 days is up. No refund . Can they do a replacement or something. Also when this product was received, the ink was dry & printer would not recognize any ink cart.

Not with it
When my wife recieved this item it was missing th USB cord. When she called about it she was told that she would have to pay for a new one. The printer/scanner/copier works fine but I'm not to happy that they didn't send the USB cord and than was told I would have to pay in order to get one.

Replacement for a dead HP Printer
This printer was purchased to replace a HP Printer that died. The main reason for choosing the printer is because it uses the same ink cartridges as the printer that died. I had just purchased a number of cartridges from a HP re-seller site but the HP model was no longer sold new at stores. HP had moved onto a new printer series that (of course) used different ink cartridges. Thanks to this seller I was able to buy a new printer from the old series and continue to use the same ink cartridges.
