Q: Is this table a walnut veneer?

I believe it's walnut veneer over a molded birch plywood core

Q: What are the interior dimensions (where sofa seat might fit) when used as a table?

I have measured several of these and they vary slightly (less than an inch) but the Birch table is about 20.5 ". The Laminate tables have thicker ply so they measure closer to 19 3/4". I hope this information helps! Thank you for your inquiry.

Q: I am looking to use this as a small coffee table. Do you think it is substantial enough to sit in front of a couch or would it look out of place?

I use it as a side table for my couch and a night table for the beds. I agree with the previous poster that it would make a poor choice for a coffee table.

I would think that it would be no problem. I don't have two to try it so I don't know how snug they would be. I love mine.
