You couldn't want more
You couldn't want more in a book than this little number by Patricia Bage for clarity of method and technique, simple illustrations and nice projects to finish. You will get a true sampling of stitches including 10 in drawn thread alone, 12 in embroidery, how to bead and 4 really pretty samplers to incorporate and learn the techniques through and through. I love that she shows each of the 4 samplers in 2 different color schemes. This allows you to see the potential of personal design that so inspire as to sit right down and begin to stitch. She has included a comprehensive list of fabrics, threads and supplies with photographs of everything that are very close-up and detailed and leave nothing to guess at. You can try your hand at one type of stitching or become truly an expert by finishing one or more of the samplers. What a great find!------------------Update from June 2013:The publisher of this book, Search Press, has delightedly assembled a bunch of its other titles and put forth this offering: The Stitching Book: The All-You-Need-to-Know Guide to Surface Stitching It contains maybe half the content of each of the 8 books which are all written by well-known expert embroiderers. This compendium complements the individual books well and provides you an excellent opportunity to expand and perfect your repertoire of techniques.

Great book for beginners!
I was surprise how detail and how pretty this book is. The picture makes it look dated and that is not the case. It is a perfect book for a beginner like me, all the pictures are in color, it explain what you need to do a great job and it has few samples that you can follow step by step.

Bi- Lingual ?!
I got this book and thot I must be going nuts when I came to page 17 and it was in another language ! I am now wondering if ALL are same, or I can exchange and get one ALL in english :) 8 of the 63 pages are in what I beleive is spanish, but it could be something else. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem ?!

Beautiful Book
If you really want to learn this technique, this is the book for you. It is well written with beautiful diagrams and photographs throughout that teach the technique in simple step by step terms. I look at it over and over - puts me in the mood to get doing instead of just dreaming about it.

A most wanted book for needleworkers
This book is so much more than it seems. It's a treasure, the images are so neat and beautiful, widely displayed across the page. The tutorials are excellent! Step by step instructions with pictures and graphs...It has information on materials, important considerations before stitching, tutorials on the techniques, plus four beautiful projects shown in different color schemes and finishes... Best needlework book I own.

Beginner's guide to drawn thread embroidery
This is a really great book, very clear directions. I first saw it several years ago and didn't purchase then. When I wanted to purchase the book they were sold out and couldn't order more. They suggested looking on Amazon.com to find it.

This instruction book was well written to may It easy. It had several different projects to try. I did find that a lap frame was easiest to use. I have arthuritis in my hands so I'm always looking for the way that kindest to my hands.

Fabulous Book
After seeing the amazing results a friend had created after purchasing this book, I decided (nervously) to buy one for myself. Drawn thread looks very complicated, and the results my friend had achieved looked incredibly complicated (but incredibly beautiful) to do.This book is fantastic for making it easy to understand and simple. There are four beautiful different project to choose from, of different difficulties. The author breaks everything down into easy to manage chunks. It never overwhelms you, but takes you carefully step by step through each stage, so that you can do each step quite happily, and then you step back and realise what an intricate piece of work you have just created. One huge benefit about this book is that the author includes both line drawings and photographs of the various stages, so you can see exactly what you are doing, and it makes it much easier to follow. Another huge positive, is that the book is carefully arranged with all the stitches in one section, which is very handy for reference and then the projects and instructions in another section. This means that the instructions stay simple and clear. Its a very thorough guide and it well written, on nice quality paper. I had really fast delivery and so was extra pleased.

Really is for beginners
I am completely new to drawn thread work and found the book easy to follow, diagrams easy to understand and follow, photographs helped me to envisage the finish. The final chapter gave me ideas on how to interpret and present a finished work. All it lacks is a list of specialist suppliers of, for example, evenly woven linens.

Useful little book
This type of embroidery is always something I have wanted to do but not sure where to start. It is exactly as the title says Drawn Thread Embroidery for beginners. It starts with the basic stitches threads etc and projects to practice on. Very good clear instructions with large pictures showing the stitches. I am enjoying having a go it does not seem quite so daunting now to be able to create loveley pieces of embroidery.

Beginner's Guide to Drawn Thread Embroidery
The preview pages that were available to view before purchase was the decider for me as to which book on drawn thread work that I should choose. The book was delivered very quickly and in perfect condition. I have already worked one of the samplers and am half way through a second one. As a complete beginner to this type of embroidery I have found the instructions clear and very easy to follow. I am pleased with the work I am producing.

Loved it!
Up until recently I didn't know anything about Drawn Thread Embroidery but on a visit to Bakewell at Christmas saw some examples of it in a fabulous embroidery shop and was inspired to investigate further. I ordered this book and started to practise. I found it difficult at first but love a challenge so persevered and am just about to complete my first project - it's beautiful! So different to anything I have done before. This book has very clear instructions and despite the fact that I am not an experienced embroiderier (is that a word?!) I have mastered it - YAY!
