Do i need a voltage regulator with this kit?

I don’t have one and it didn’t come in the complete electric startle It has a charging coil I believe is referred to as the stator coil that mounts to the engine case behind the flywheel there’s perfectly spaced receiving threads tapped into the case so that charges the battery slowly as the motor runs by way of the magnet liner of the inner rim of the new flywheel

Do i have to buy a battery also? If so what battery?

Yes, you will need to purchase a battery and some wire to get from the battery to the starter. You will also need a 6mm tap as a couple of the holes aren't threaded (at least they weren't on my gx160). I used a 1290 series battery which is a little on the small side but I had space limitations and it spins the motor over well.
