Excellent price and quality should last a while
This thing is HUGE and I didn't realize how big it is till I opened it . I ordered this for my 21-ft mako center console which I got to try out yesterday . It works perfect for what I need which is to slow me down while I'm drifting. it cuts my speed down to half and allows my bait to stay in the zone longer. It is rated for 21 ft boat but I think it can hold a much bigger boat just fine depending on where you tie it up .. just don't forget to bring it in before you get on your way that's how I lost my last one

Not useful over 20MPH....
I was very pleased with the construction of this sock; I got the 54" for a 21' fishing boat in Alaskan waters,, and it works great to slow my drift. One complaint, it doesn't hold up when you try to get up on step with a 200HP engine. Actually, that's not fair; my 3/8" braided nylon rope broke before the sock did. So kudos to the design. As a side note, it doesn't float. Hence I am buying two more at this price; 1/3 of my local retailer.

54” On Our 23 Foot Walkaround Has Increased Our Fluke Catch!
Only been using this for 3 weeks but have seen a significant increase in our Fluke catch on Western Long Island Sound. The 54” slows our 23 foot Walkaround’s drift down to that magic speed of 1 knot or so in typical windy conditions. Bought a 6 foot, 1” wide towing strap for 7 bucks on Amazon and a large stainless locking Carabiner to attach the two. The loop on the strap fits a boat cleat well and a turn or two around the cleat adjusts the length. For a float I used a block of polyethylene foam from an old swim aid and pulled the strap through it’s slit. It all fits nicely in a 24” X 36” Champion Sports Mesh Sports Equipment Bag ($6). Easy to deploy. Easy to recover (pull close and grab the yellow strap and in she comes). Easy to stow. Appears sturdy and well made. Will get a lot of use out of it.

Field Test Results are Positive
I have a 26 foot Sea Ray and I was looking for a both a drift anchor and a trolling brake for lake fishing. I ordered a 30 inch model which is less than recommended because I am an engineer and I just couldn't see how the manufacturer's recommended anchor was needed (much larger). When I received the package it said in red letters "not to be used as a trolling brake." But the fish were calling and there is nothing like a field test. Short answer is that is worked fine as a trolling brake. Trolled for hours and it reduced the speed from 3.5-3.7 mph to 2.8. I tied it off to a cleat on the port side and the force exerted on the rope was not extreme. The boat tracked straight ahead. I used some existing rope and a float to hook it up instead of buying the custom rig offered by the manufacturer. While trolling the rope was not stretched tight but had some give to it. The sock/brake was easy to retrieve and folded up into a nice compact package for restowing. In short, I am very happy with the product both as a trolling brake and as a drift anchor and I recommend it.

Quality
Practice tripping/retrieving a few times on windward side or end. Simple from there.

This drift sock is awsome. I have a 17ft boat and this worked like a charm. Heavy duty materials, this seems really well made.

Good for slowing down the boat to a better MPH when day trolling for walleye. Our electric motor is too slow so using this with the main motor works
