This cube of gadolinium allows a demonstration of the effect. I covered one side with tape so that a laser thermometer could be used to measure the temperature of the cube without contact. Then with a forceps I placed the cube in contact with a high-field neodymium iron boron magnet and re-measured the temperature. It instantly went up as much as 9 degrees F. When de-coupled from the magnet, the temp went right back down to initial value.
