Does this have a locking mechanism?

You can lock it by tightening the screws. Hard to lock real accurately however.

What is the thread pitch of the holes in the top of the stage?

The threaded holes in the top are M4-0.7 mm, with a 0.7 mm pitch. This is considered a coarse thread, and it is the most common pitch for M4 screws. I was never able to find this information anywhere and had to take a chance ordering some M4-0.7 mm screws, but can confirm that they do fit. No idea why it is so hard to get this information!
