Poor from the start! This film is no where near as good as original, you can only watch this version once were-as with the original you can enjoy it over and over!

darker
well here we have yet another remake or re-imaging as the americans like to call them ,usually they are not as good as the original there is the odd exception but even with bigger budgets they are not as good now as for this it is certainly darker creepier than the original but it is not better it sticks generally to the main plot but as usual there are differences maybe to some not important ones like couple with two kids move from city only here they have changed cities you do not get to see hardly any of the trucks constantly flying past houses down little road as you did in original except only once and instead of little boy getting killed it is little girl the layout of the houses are different and as for the cast they do a reasonable job especially the guy playing the father but he is different to the original guy the mother is completely different to the divine denise Crosby from the original she is plain and bland and as for old jud well as usual john Lithgow does a good performance but again I liked the other man whos name I have forgot from the original ,small details like this all add up the original may not have been as dark as this but I feel it just takes it as slightly better even the ending is different in every sense there are plenty of extras which is always good and I feel all the deleted scenes really should have stayed in ,the general story is all there but with these small differences it tells ,the main theme being maybe what is dead should stay dead is there and as a horror it is darker [and most of it is in the dark ]but there is just something about the original for me denise Crosby that gives it the edge ,not a bad effort but not a great one either .

Disappointing
I was looking forward to seeing this film but was really let down . It strayed from the book, totally changing the story and the ending was rushed as if they realised they only had a short time left so had better wrap it up . So annoyed !

Not Bad but it’s not King
As a die hard Stephen king fan I had to watch this remake of what was one of the best original film adaptions of his novelIt is a remake so I expected there to be and there needed to be differences to the original for it to feel true as a modern remake of the 89 film, one big error was under using the character Gage in the remakeThe film does stray at times quite a distance from the original adaption all be it still holding onto the core of the story ,the setting, the family and the purposeThe differences work for this film but for me they strayed a bit far for it to feel a true adaption of the novel replacing fear and suspense with an increased volume of blood and goreIt isn’t in its own right a bad film and worth a watch but for hardcore king fans like myself it will disappoint in how the film unfolds vs the original and novelWorth a watch the dvd includes alternate ending which was a much better and more fitting ending that should have been in the theatrical release

A "must watch" from a "must read"
Having read the book by Stephen King and really enjoying the story I was keen to see this film adaptation. I cannot compare this one to the original film as I haven't yet seen it. Overall, it was a good watch with some minor omissions (that you come to expect from book-to-film adaptations) but also a few creative twists in the narrative. As a horror fan it's not going to keep you on the edge of your seat or set your heart racing but it's a good watch whether you're an existing fan of the story or not. For those who like to read... I strongly recommend the book. As a side note for fellow rock music fans, Starcrawler provide an excellent cover of the Ramones Pet Sematary song during the closing credits.

Missing the creepy atmosphere & scares of the original
Unfortunately this re-make of the Stephen King classic did not live up to expectations with parts of the original missing from this & somewhat lacking in both the suspension & creepy atmosphere that were present in the original version. The only saving grace really was the actors abilities to keep going ( just enough )interest in the movie to keep one watching it until the end.

Reasonable remake
Must say I quite enjoyed Kevin Kolsches remake of Stephen Kings novel. The acting was solid with Jete Laurence standing out as a convincing budding child actress. The film had some moments of suspense and atmosphere and I found myself fully engrossed in the film throughout. On the downside I couldn’t help comparing it to the original film ( the bane of remakes I guess) and as so, I already knew much of what to expect, so not too many twists in this plot I’m afraid. There was a few jump scares to be had, but they tended to be quite predictable although some of the special effects did send a slight chill down my spine! All in all a reasonable remake and worth a watch

Different but the same
Great film watched it in the cinemas it follows the same plot but it's not exactly the same enough has changed to make it a movie in its own rights, not like most remakes where they stick to the original as closely as possible
