Can this handle a 240 wide tire

I would say yes based on the fact that when I looked up how wide a 240 tire is and it said 8.5” on line. I know that the distance between the uprights of the tire balancer stand is greater than that.

What is the size of the rod I have my own custom cones?

The Diameter of the "Rod" is .471",15/32,11.98 mm by 16" long

Besides the 'Tusk' truing stand, are there any other stands that I should be looking at that might be better buys? Thanks

It does the job. For the price and what it offers this stand does it. I buy Tusk products all the time. I laced my first dirt bike wheels on this and had no problems. Also if it's your first time using a stand, go to Rocky mountain atv.com and watch their video on how to use this stand.

Can this support the size and weight of a Harley Touring 180/65B16 rear tire?

I balance 180 & 190 sport bike tires, plenty of room. Unit is very well built so no problem weight wise. I'm quite happy with this unit.
