White Carolina Pineberry Plants - 10 Roots -Bareroot-Pineapple/Strawberry Flavor - Grow Indoors or Out

Let me start this off by prefacing that I didn't get to them until one day after they were delivered into my mailbox. The mailman also bent my package in half in his way of stuffing my mailbox, which broke off a couple of baby shoots coming from a couple runners. With that out of the way, out of the plants I salvaged a day late, 7/10 are now growing and look healthy & great. 2/10 of the plants look dead. 1/10 was rotten and is for sure dead. I simply mixed soil conditioner into an old 7 gal pot with soil I had lying around, and put them all in the deeply watered. They're probably not far enough spaced from one another, but because I lost some, it's probably okay for now. They won't get crowded for a little while. I stuck mine under a 72watt LED grow light I also got off amazon. Look for the VOGEK full spectrum if interested. Within a couple days they have already taken off in growth. Make sure if you do indoors that you have a small fan for circulation, and when putting a saucer under a plant, you make sure that they are never sitting in standing water. That will cause root rot and your white berries will die. One of the biggest ways to kill a plant is noticing that it looks unhappy, so you water it more, but you didn't realize it was unhappy because the roots were rotting from being watered too much already. Let your plants dry out first! Not totally dry out, but your finger shouldn't be touching wet soil if you stick it in the dirt. I would not recommend putting these outside until they get bigger, because I've grown regular strawberries before, and TONS of critters and birds love to snack on them. Some of the other reviewers for this product stated that their outdoor strawberries were eaten. Baby plants are also delicious to a lot of animals, so I highly recommend keeping them indoors until they get bigger. There's also elements you can't control outside such as if the sun is shining too harshly on them for too long, or if they dry out quick, or if it gets too windy, or rains too much. I actually may just keep mine indoors indefinitely so I don't even deal with pests.

We bought a different set of pineberries, from a different company last year. We figured, that this year we would just go with this company on Amazon. Compared to last year, we got almost 0 growth. Last year we actually got berries, but nothing from this company. We grow chilis, lettuce, other strawberries, corn, tomatoes, etc. and this was the ONLY thing not to grow this last season. We were pretty disappointed, and will probably not do pineberries again in the future.

Ordered 10 bare root plants and recieved 19! 18 of them already had new growth out the package. Packaging could have been better or had more padding just as a precaution but more harm was done by me getting them untangled from eachother then anything else.

First time buying "bareroot". Arrived in a bag as one large clump of dried roots. Not a bit of moist green anything anywhere to be found. It looked dead to me, but what did I know. All the videos I watched showed similar. So... I soaked them for 20 minutes, followed the directions to the tee. Bought special potting soil, plant food and even used 100% Natural Wool Pellets for soil amendment to help the soil retain moisture. Planted four in their own six inch pot and the rest in a ceramic "strawberry" pot that is 21 inches tall. I placed them on on my deck, as it receives direct sunlight all day (no shade from trees or house). I checked/watered them each morning, brought them in when we had severe downpours at night and checked them daily for any sign of life. None came. Not a single one. My initial intuition when I first opened the package was correct. They were all dead to begin with. I was so excited about these strawberries and had done so much prior planning that I couldn't wait to get them planted; thus, I never took any photographs — which is odd for me. I take pics of everything. This breaks my heart. I sooo wanted to taste these berries. All the plants I started from seed or bought from greenhouse are doing wonderful. Garden is doing great, even in this heat. Yet the Only plants I couldn't wait to see turn green and grow were these strawberries. Never got so much as a tiny little hint of green anything on any of the plants. ——— MAKE NOTE ——— Take Photos. If they don't have any green one them when they arrive and are on the brittle side — SEND THEM BACK right away. DO NOT try to grow them thinking your "green thumb" will perform miracles. Send them back.

Out of ten only 6 had some what green on them. All 6 are growing well and some are already having little flowers (20days in). The other 4 were just dead roots with no crown or leaf and never grew anything. Checked the roots today and they were dead.

I was so excited for these...Not 1 shows signs of life or potential. I ordered 20 red from someone else right behind this order and every single 1 of those are taking off like crazy. I show not even a hint of life in any of the 10 pineberries. Disappointing is an understatement!

out of the 8 starts I did receive, 1 took off and is massive! I have eaten a pineberry off the 1 plant and it was delicious! The 1 plant is massive now and I've just re-planted it into a bitter pot. I had it in a small pot thinking it would be ok in there, while re-planting it, I saw that it had massive roots, im hoping this is the last time I have to replant it, but it seems that I am going to be getting a lot of pineberries off my 1 plant that made it. I also don't seem to have much of a green thumb so I am very glad 1 of the starts made it! It has come up a few times on Facebook and I am now one that gets to brag that I am growing 1! Thank you very much for making the starts and sending them out. I am enjoying growing the pineberry!

Well we'll see if they're pineberries, but the 11 roots are alive. I soaked the roots immediately upon arrival in room temp water and left them overnight. There are around 60% larger roots and the rest are very skinny and struggled (an example pictured in the top left pot). I've transplanted some to larger planters outside and it seems winter's not done with us so the berries lived through freezing at night. While I held off planting the rest, one surprised us with a flower. If that goes on, we could have pineberries this season. 1 month update: 5 of 11 still alive. As I've heard from other sources, pineberries did seem fussier than the (everbearing) strawberries I planted at around the same time, which were shipped the same way but all survived the shipping and my manhandling during the hardening and replanting process. 1 year update: We decided to pluck all the flowers before they fruit in order to get more robust plants the following summer. One snowy zone 5 winter later, we have real pine berries. They feel and taste like granny smith apples. To prepare for winter, the plants were repotted with additional compost to top up the soil in 5 gallon black fabric pots. Over winter, the pots sat on a balcony over 1 in styrofoam against the apartment wall. We didn't do any other insulation. Only one plant survived this way so we might need to lay down some hay over the soil for this winter, but the survivor sends out so much runners it filled the pot again and are invading neighboring pots.
